I almost did not buy this based on the fairly negative tone of a lot of the reviews. But I am glad I did. A lot of others reported damage to their product, I really didn't have any. I had one piece that was cracked, but after installing it, I am not worried about it, it is solid. Some of that I think you have to expect. It does come with a boat load of parts and pieces and it did take me about 4 hours to put it together. All pieces and hardware were there and I wasn't short anything. I found the instructions to be pretty clear and detailed. You just need a little time and patience. I did put wood glue in all of the dowel inserts, it didn't call for it, but I figured it couldn't hurt and would increase structural integrity. The fireplace insert looks nice, I was really pleased with it, and it heats up my room very well (it is a closed off 12 foot by roughly 20 foot room). The remote works fine, and yeah, it is a fake fire, but I think it looks pretty good in my opinion. I agree with the one reviewer who said to leave the door hinges off till last, I had put the the two small blocks that the door hinges attach to on backwards, and had to take off and reverse. Pay close attention to which way they go. Doors did not close all the way initially but after playing with the adjustments on the hinges, they work fine. My husband put it together and it took a few hours a day for a couple of days. He did reinforce all the holes with a good glue. The hardest part I believe is that the door hinges need to be adjusted to half to get them to line up correctly. He didn't turn them 180 degrees or the doors would not have been flush like one review suggested. He just moved them in some. It turned out great. We love the Espresso color and the stone feature around the fire insert. It has kept us warm and love the cozy look. We went to a retail discount store today that sells all items and we saw one there for nearly double the price and not any fancier. In fact, I like ours better. If you are not an experienced wood worker you may need to get a friend to help. Luckily, my husband is and he reads instructions very thouroughly before starting and makes sure all the part etc...are in order. You won't be disappointed if you do this. ... show more

The fireplace is nice. Great quality for the price took me just under three hours to put together. One of the dowels in the parts envelope was missing and they did not provide enough glue. Luckily I had some spare dowels in the garage and some of my own glue.Otherwise it went pretty smooth. The assembly directions were easy to follow. I am female and did it by myself. The fireplace looks clean and it’s a nice size for the nook that I have placed it in. The actual fire is simple and will do the trick in the winter. ... show more

Excellent quality for the price. I like to do a ton of research before I buy something. We wanted a new TV stand for our family room but wanted it to have one of those faux fireplaces. After hours of research and looking for a specific size I found this product and I am happy we bought it. In the past I would buy furniture online and usually you just don't know what you get because you can't touch it before hand. The heavy box came and the instructions were clear. The wood material is heavy and not thin at all. It went together easily and overall it is a very durable, well made addition to our home. There are mixed reviews which caused me to hesitate on this purchase. However this is a beautiful tv stand and fireplace. It took hours to assemble, follow directions carefully. The directions are precise, clear and easy to follow. There were a couple of times you need 2 people. I put my 65 inch tv on and it fits great. Stand is very sturdy, the glass doors are a nice touch I have flameless candles on shelves! Even though there is pressboard I think you’ll be impressed with how it looks. ... show more

****WARNING**** If you plug this heater into the same outlet as your TV (which will more than likely be sitting on top of this unit) then Ameriwood will void your warranty. Ameriwood sent me a defective product and then tried everything they could to void my warranty so they wouldn't be responsible for repairs. Ameriwood customer service rep Kelly claimed plugging ANYTHING into the same outlet as this heater will cause it to break, but based on ALL the pictures in the photos of fully functional heater's using the same outlet as a TV, that isn't the problem. When I turn my heater on, a large, loud, bright spark pops when the heater starts to turn on. There's NO way this is caused by a small TV being plugged into the same outlet. Very poor customer service who never attempted to fix my problem and ONLY cared about voiding my warranty at every step. They asked me for more and more and more pictures until they eventually found an issue that technically voided my warranty. Never once did they ask me about the issues I was having, or offer any troubleshooting help to fix the issue. I will never buy an Ameriwood product again. Shame on this scam company. ... show more
