I used to be an avid hunter, but have switched to photography in my later years. I appreciate the import of a blind! Chair is comfortable with some back support. I do add a cushion for added comfort. I’m 200 pounds and it is plenty sturdy for me. The manner in which it deploys is impressive. I’d recommend before deploying the first time to note how it is packed and strapped because it unfolds rather quickly with release of the pressure contained by strap. At first it isn’t all that obvious how it repacks. Once figured out , it’s ok. I’ve used it twice and I like it. How durable is yet unknown, but it looks to be of decent construction. If you are looking for a waterproof shelter it is not. It’s for concealment and does its job well. I can use a tripod with a rather long lens and it all is contained with only a couple of inches of lens protruding. Little equipment pouches are an unexpected bonus. The recess in the chair arm for coffee was totally unexpected. So far, pretty ingenious product. ... show more

I don't usually preemptively take off stars, but I feel a 4 star is still positive. This works exactly as advertised, no complaints there. Two reasons I removed a star: First, it feels very cheap. From the folding mechanisms to the fabric, to the windows, I'm not expecting this to last long. If you have kids, keep them away unless you want it torn very quickly. Secondly, unless you're extremely small, you're not getting many shots out of this. If you have a narrow shooting range or you have a long distance, this would work well. We actually were able to harvest a nice buck out of it, but we had a 150 yard shot. In a more confined area (food plot) you'll be royally screwed as you can't get the gun to point in any directly except exactly straight in front of you. It does a great job at protecting you from wind and I assume rain. Even seemed to hold a bit of heat, which was very much appreciated on cold mornings. Overall, it's a great concept, just don't expect to take shots from sides. ... show more

Great portable blind. I love the flexibility this gives me to move through thick timber and instantly conceal myself anywhere I come upon fresh sign. The build quality is a good balance of tough and light so you can carry it on long trek through the thick stuff. Came with broken screw that connects rods to arm. After getting what was left of the screw out of the arm, matched the screw up at local hardware store and replaced it. Works great. Was a little bit of inconvenience dealing with screw but overall very satisfied.

Update: Lowered the rating to One Star because the carrying bag didn't last two outings and the blind itself started falling apart after just seven uses. Chinastep would be a better name than Ameristep for this company. I'm using the blind for photography not killing. The blind itself is good. It's easy to setup and use. The chair is reasonably comfortable. There are no screens for the windows so I use small binder clips on the metal frame to attach a camo netting scarf that hangs down over the front window and camera. Folding the blind back down requires some awkward maneuvers, but nothing too bad. It would be very portable, but the provided carrying bag is terrible. It started to rip apart the second time I took the hide out. And the straps are barely a notch above string; they look like the thinnest cheapest cording the company could get. So to make the blind really usable expect to add $15-$20 worth of accessories like netting, a cushion, and a new carrying bag. ... show more
