Came with plenty of rock vermiculite and wool. Difficult to convert to left hand gas supply. Noisy when operating. Remote and increase flame works great. After a couple of uses the remote only works to turn the unit on. Unit just clickes when trying to turn down or off. Called Americangaslogs and they said this unit was not theirs but was a Chinese copy.

Our old insert seized up and the pilot became hard to light. I was happy to see there was a similar type of replacement offered. I found this Americangaslos model and ordered it as a replacement because the price was economical. The new unit arrived sooner than later and assembly was very straight forward. Once it was installed and functioning, I was able to consult with the manufacturers to ensure it was installed correctly. We noticed an increase in the output heat and the materials included make it look like a real fire.

Overall a very good value. Instructions are adequate, but could use more step by step with pictures. Includes everything you need for the most part. However, I use natural gas and everything I read suggests to use silica sand, that was not included, over the burner tubes, but they did include a different type of sand product that I didn't use so it may be OK. I like the unit and it looks very nice after completion. I would purchase it again.

I replaced a burner pan in our fireplace with this and it was very easy. It worked perfectly within 30 minutes of opening the box. I like that I can change it from Natural gas to LP without having to buy more items. Looks great.
