It's a good toilet. Everything goes down, first time, with a minimal amount of water! -1 star because the water valve would never fully shut off. (We have two other American Standard toilets in the house that do/did the same thing until we replaced the valve. I've read elsewhere that this is a common problem.) American Standard sent us a new valve, free of charge, and now it actually shuts off. We tried getting this toilet twice, special order, from a big box store, and both times it arrived at the store damaged or outright broken. They also would charge a large fee to ship straight to our home. While this one took a while to get here, it arrived undamaged, packed incredibly well, and at the same price the big box store charged, but shipped for free to our home!     • Where do you get a seat that fits this toilet?
This toilet doesn't come with a seat. I've purchased 4 toilet seats for this thing and none of them fit. The beemis seats are too long, the american standars seats are either too short or the opening is very narrow. I regret buying this toilet. UPDATE After buying several seats and having none of them fit properly, I stumbled upon the actual cadet seat. I bought it and installed it. I now really like this toilet. I would highly recommend it. I like the lower height. I can't stand those really tall toilets. ... show more

Overall it's easy to install and works fine. The big issue is that the water level in the bowl is so low that you will have constant excrement lining the sides of your bowl. Disgusting and poor design as American Standard states plainly that you can't adjust the water level in your bowl. Toilets have been around for how many years and you make it so the water level is only around 4" at the bottom of the bowl? Oh, by the way we have two of them so it's not a fluke.     • Very poor quality glazing - had to return unused.
I bought this at Home Depot, but had to return it due to very poor glazing. A big glob of rough glaze was under the left side bowl lip and there was almost no glaze in the tube leading to and out of the trap. I doubt that there was any glazing in the trap at all, but I didn't take an endoscope to it to check. I'm a bit dumbfounded on how bad the glazing was on this toilet since I bought an American Standard sink basin that I consider a great value and excellent quality. I thought I'd get the same value and quality from their toilets. Maybe mine was a one off defect, but I ended up installing a Delta Foundations toilet that had, not perfect, but good quality glazing. I'm happy with the Delta toilet and it cost less. I'll still consider American Standard for sink basins and tubs, but I'll probably avoid them for toilets. The toilet I got should have never of gotten past quality control. It's like someone glanced at it and let it through. Nobody seemed to bother to look under the lip or at the trap tube. ... show more

I replaced a 20 yr old American Standard Cadet (which still had all original valve and parts) with this Cadet 3. First, this is the 15" high bowl, which is the only size I've ever used in 50+ years on this planet. It seems all the big box stores sell the 16.5" bowl only, which they call "comfort" or "right" height. I bought a 16.5" by mistake and hated it. So be aware of the height issue. Installation is as simple as it gets. I used a wax-free toilet seal at the floor for the first time, and I recommend this. The performance of the Cadet 3 is amazing. The bowl is completely emptied in approx. 3.8 seconds. The tank then quietly refills. I couldn't be happier. I had no issues fitting an elongated toilet seat. ... show more
