Super-premium Power Octal Beam Tetrode originally introduced In 1957 by Marconi-Osram Valve Co. (Genalex). Since Genalex ceased production in the early 1980s, the original has become very expensive and hard to find. After extensive research and engineering, we have re-issued the legendary Genalex Gold Lion KT88, and recreated it down to the finest detail.

You might want to try the cheaper re releases of the KT88. If your amp will also accept the (Gold Lion) KT77, and if , like me, you weren't really thrilled with the initial presentation of present release KT88 tubes, I would go with their KT77. The recent EH version of the KT88 looks to be based closer to the original KT88 (top getter). I'll post up a GL KT88 vs EH KT88 when the EH have had more burn in time. ... show more

The first few tubes in the batch were good the the next three were bad. The 3 bad tubes blew within hours of being installed, each time the blown tube took a ktk 2 1/2 fuse. Each fuse cost an average of ten bucks a piece. I have five remaining and do not trust them. Note: These tubes were serving High End Audio gear and I am lucky my fuses protected the amp, otherwise these tubes could have caused expensive repairs. ... show more

I love the sound of these tubes! To me they sound just a little punchier that ELl-34's that came with my amps. I have two Prima Luna Prolouge four amps, both running Gold Lion KT88 tubes. One Amp runs the midrange horns on each speaker and the other powers the 18" bass drivers and horn tweeters. The custom built cross overs have volume controls on the mids and tweets, so dialing in the right amount mid's or high frequencies is a breeze.From time to time I play with the mix, depending on what I am hearing and want to hear. ... show more

This tubes are very nice haven't had any problems with them at all and they were a great price usually more expensive then I paid for them they biased very nicely with a whole lot more reserve which is really good and sometimes tubes can be finicky when your biasing them but these were very smooth sailing with out much drift and of course the famous kt88 Genalex Gold Lion sound very nice. ... show more

I purchased 2) sets of QUAD Gold Lions for use in my Pure CLASS A stereo amplifier. They sound better than the last set of Gold Lions I purchased years ago. These are great tubes and I like the clean, effortless sound that they produce.
