It looked great. It was very easy to install. Everything about it made a good impression of high quality. It was very comfortable. The concave design fit the body better compared to seats with convex cross sections. It felt great to be seated with even pressure all around instead of having concentrated pressure points caused by non-ergonomic designs. It felt exactly like the first concave commercial seat I ever used in the late 1980s. I was very pleased and happy with the product. Great thought was put into its design. I was so glad commercial models were available to Amazon shoppers. The hinge design was elegant and simple. Plastic caps topping the bolts had horizontal, round ended metal pins that slid into a thick cylinder molded into the bottom of the seat. The hinge was half hidden when the seat was down, so the seat surface extended farther back toward the tank compared to smaller seats. The rubber washers and stainless steel hardware showed great care and precision from the manufacturer (it was made in Mexico). The white, glossy material matched a conventional white toilet very well. The elongated shape fit the bowl correctly. It looked fine with no lid, as the seat covered the rim sufficiently. The open front was nice to have, since it always seemed more logical than closed front designs. Four bumpers under the seat seemed better compared to the two found on conventional models. The bumpers near the hinge probably took a lot of the stress away from the hinge, so I wasn't worried about anything cracking or failing. Packaging was excellent. Foam sheets, plastic bags, and bubble wrap were used. It was double boxed and arrived in a 23 x 18 x 3.5 inch shipping box. An inventory label bluntly said, "TOILET SEAT" in big capital letters, so it was a little embarrassing not to have the mystery and discretion of a plain package. The label was probably there since these products were likely meant to be shipped to large institutions ordering them in bulk. This review was written on the first day of ownership. If any issues arise, it will be updated. It's hard to imagine anything going wrong with such a simple product designed to take heavy use from the public. ... show more

    • Just the Seat - No Hardware
Seats seem okay, but absolutely no hardware (bolts, etc.) came in the packages. There was a delay in installing these (we bought four) so returning the seats is not an options, so now we're on the hunt for the hardware.

My apartment had it's standard small toilet and it's small toilet seat which was too small. It would cause my legs to go numb cause it was to hard on my bottom. This commerial one is the same one in my office which allows me to sit without my legs going numb. I would buy it again in the future. It is very sturdy.     • JUST WHAT YOU NEED FOR A BAD BACK! SERIOUSLY!
I cannot believe I'm writing a review for a toilet seat but please listen up if you have a bad back and have pain "going" on your current toilet. I'm only 41, healthy weight and such but I just spent my spring break seeing numerous doctors bc of a major pain in my left buttock. It hurt(s) when I sneeze, laugh, cough and embarrassingly so - to go "number 2" especially. Turns out I have a major herniated disc that is pressing on nerve endings in my buttock area. OUCH! Anyway, the only toilet seat that felt ok to sit on was the one at the mall so I searched online for that. When I read the review someone else put on about this - not - hitting pressure points, I knew it was the right one! I ordered it and got it a couple days ago and seriously my life is like amazing! Only those that struggle with serious back issues will understand this and not think I'm crazy!! Lol. Just HAD to write this so maybe just maybe I could help someone else with bad back pain. Thank you American Standard. It's worth sacrificing a lid for comfort! So what if our cats happen to take a bath in there every once in awhile, right? JK :) ... show more
