  • Tank came with a leak
I have reached out to Build.com for assistance, so maybe I'll revise my rating if/when they get back to me. The problem is that the tank has a leak. This means that every 30 minutes or so, the tank filler runs for 5 seconds. I tried using a leak detection kit, but could not find anything obvious. I think it's a defect in the filler mechanism. The problem, of course, is that the toilet is installed and returning it is not a trivial exercise! ... show more

  • This toilet is the shiznit. Costs a little more, but worth every single penny. Definitely recommend it to all.
Never, NEVER, did I expect to be writing a review on a toilet on Amazon.com, but here I am and I have to tell you we love it. Even the plumbers who installed it for us thought it was great and asked me for the model specifics so that they could get one for their own homes. If that doesn't tell you how good it is, nothing will. The toilet looks great, sits flat on the floor, is a great height, and doesn't take up too much space. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it was worth the extra $$$ over competing 2 piece models available at big hardware stores. This thing is rock solid and the flushing buttons on the top work like a charm. We are definitely saving water already, and it flushes perfectly every time. No residual requiring additional flushes here AND, best of all, the issue we seemed to have with mold around the bowl of our previous toilet went away due to the special silver coating this purportedly has. I don't know how it works, but it does. I'm also surprisingly happy with the slow lowering seat. When I finish at night I can lower it back into place for my girl without the fear that it slams and wakes her up. I only wish I had bought one for each of our other bathrooms, but I guess that will be a replacement project for the future. So, dig a little deeper in your wallet for this one, but sit back and know you're getting the best when you do. It's worth it. ... show more

  • TERRIBLE!
I hate this toilet and unfortunately have it installed in 3 bathrooms. We've had it for 2 years now. The push buttons are a pain, levers work much better. Hard water makes them stick and you have to keep it clean (inside the back tank) much more often for them to work. The seat is an absolute abomination. It is plastic and the finish is coming off. It adjusts with two screws under the seat which NEVER stay where you put them and then the seat slides all over the bowl and you have to adjust again, about every 2 months or so. Why in the world would you want to adjust a toilet seat? It either fits ON the bowl or not. I assume it saved the company money to fit other styles of their toilet. I'm looking for a different seat, but it will still have to have the adjusters since they are built into the toilet. This is a terrible toilet, and I do not suggest buying it! ... show more

  • COMFORTABLE HEIGHT. EVERCLEAN on the other hand is just BS!
$620 is expensive for an ordinary toilet. Very comfortable toilet indeed, perfect for the guy who has tired knees. HOWEVER... EverClean? Not so much, and the reason why 3 stars. That is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard. I use it every day, and same results as the other toilets in the house. Imagine my disappointment for the price tag... (EverClean was 1/2 the deciding factor). @AMERICANSTANDARD I have 3 more toilets to replace in this house. I would rather spend the money on a @TOTO. ... show more

  • Great Toilet But Tricky Install!
I bought this toilet to replace a 30+ year old Gerber toilet that uses 4 gallons per flush. The toilet arrived kinda beatup from UPS in a big box, but surprisingly the toilet and the seat were not damaged. I strongly recommend opening up the box and examine the toilet before doing anything. However, here comes the letdown, be warned not only this toilet is one piece, but it is heavy and it makes it hard to align the bolts. I don't see how one average person could install this since even if you can lift it up, it is hard to see the holes to align the bolts. Be sure to get a good flashlight or multiple flashlights so you can see the bolts being aligned in the tiny holes. Make sure the toilet is seated evenly (flat) on the wax ring, otherwise, if it goes down on one side before the other, it will push the wax ring into the drain hole! This is what happened on my first attempt and I had to move the toilet back out and remove the wax ring and get a new wax ring and re-apply it. Next, check to make sure the toilet water shutoff valve is not in the way! My shutoff valve came in from the wall and it stuck out like 5 inches (including the valve knob) so I had to cut off 3 inches and replaced the valve in order for it not to bump into the toilet. Lastly, the toilet seat is a big letdown because since the concealed trapway blocks off the area under the edge of the toilet bowl, which means you cannot use toilet seats that use fasteners underneath the bolt. Instead when installing the toilet seat included, the rubber screw mounts that hold the seat on the toilet will sometimes get loose and slip out. So the toilet seat will wobble left and right and it's annoying having to re-adjust the toilet seat to lay evenly. Pros: + Shipping is good and toilet is packed in a box in another box with good packing material. + Toilet looks great and modern. + Toilet seems smaller than my old 2 piece 30 year old Gerber toilet. + Both flushes are strong. The small flush takes about 27 seconds to stop refilling. The bigger flush takes like 37 seconds. + The flush buttons on top work fine and can be adjusted. Cons: - Installation is super hard (and I don't mean the challenging hard but more like frustrating hard). 2 people would be better. - Both flushes are not quiet. - Concealed trapway could be a problem if your shutoff valve bumps into it. - Toilet seat sucks and with the concealed trapway means you cannot use toilet seats with bolts using fasteners underneath. - Price. If I could go back in time, I would rather get a American Standard 2034.014.020 Champion 4 One Piece instead. It won't look as pretty but it's easier to install, has 4 inch flush valve (Boulevard has 3 inch), and you can pretty much use any toilet seat no problem. ***UPDATE June 22, 2015*** I called American Standard customer service and they are sending me a new toilet seat. I will update my review when it arrives. ... show more

  • Great buy at a great price.
If you are interested in water conservation, this is the toilet you’ll want. If you want to reduce your water bills, this is the toilet you’ll want. If you have senior citizens living in your home, this is the toilet they’ll appreciate. The design is clean, compact and simple, and should fit in well with any style bathroom you have. It will also fit well in a small bathroom. One of the complaints of early low-consumptions toilets was they had to be flushed two or three times to match what the larger toilets could do with just one flush. Not so with this one. It does the job with one fast flush, and seems to use hardly any water at all. The slow-close toilet seat is another nice touch. I shopped around a lot before I decided on this fixture, and I highly recommend it -- especially at this price. ... show more
