  • Great toilet
Purchased this toilet for a recent bathroom remodel. It arrived quick and was packaged well. There was no damage. When I removed the packaging I thought the toilet looked small. It’s not small, but because the tank is smaller it appeared that way. This toilet is all one piece. The guys said, because of that it was the most difficult toilet to install that they have ever done. It’s very easy to clean because the sides are straight. I’m happy with this toilet. The height is just right. I love the soft close seat and lid. I would highly recommend this toilet. I wish I had bought one for my other bathroom. ... show more

  • Love it!
I love the toilet but it’s not that easy to install. After all is said and done I think it’s worth it.

  • Big on Style, Straight Lines, & Performance
I've resisted my next step in current toilet standards. But this one finally hit all the marks to seem like an upgrade. Plus American Standard is a great brand in toilets, and this is getting one of their current best. Starting with its features, compared to cheaper alternatives on the market today, I believe this gives us the best of its: (1) Power Wash from the rim to help flush the whole bowl and keep cleaner for longer, (2) inhibit growth & stains, (3) Siphon flushing ability with a low volume of water (without the pressure assisted massive "woosh!" that you could hear from across the house with other systems), and (4) a one-piece design that allows the tank to take up less space than when an add-on. Then you have the looks -- straight lines, covered nuts and connections, less nooks & crannies to clean if you want to get everywhere, and the crown molding like look. Now this is BIG and heavy when it arrives. Yes, it may be somewhat more difficult to move into place, and work behind it because you aren't doing just the lower section first and then the tank. And the connections will be tucked always with harder access (but that was also one of its features), and could hug the wall more tightly. For a toilet this expensive & heavy, I just hired a plumber. Any installation & servicing issues shouldn't be a big deal to an experienced plumber. Once piece designs are harder to move and get in place, so I went with a professional. I actually did a lot of internet research before I pulled the trigger on this one. The manufacturer's site has a lot of good info too. Plus you can learn more about siphon flushing from web videos :) . The biggest unknown with this toilet is simply the "right height" debate, and this is going to be preference, and something to get used to. It will seem different. I figured I would try it, and if I really don't like it I could have a plumber move it to a lesser used bathroom. I did read reports of people complaining that the slow close toilet seat would skew off center for some people and annoyed them to straighten it, was a pricey replacement, and the manufacturer didn't replace it under warranty, because they thought people broke it when sitting on the lid. Just read your manual, and beware for proper use. ... show more

  • Modern, stylish looking
The American Standard 2851A104.020 Town Square S Right Height Elongated One-Piece Toilet with Seat is a beautiful toilet. Something that feels odd to write but in all honesty it’s true. The crown molding aspect does give this toilet an appearance that to me is very unique and stylish. As others mentioned the height is probably one of the best aspects of this toilet. My old one was much smaller and sat very low to the ground. It just looked cheap. This one looks much classier and modern. I also think another feature you don’t see often is that the bolts on the side are hidden. I really like that look. It just makes the toilet and bathroom much cleaner looking. I was also very surprised by the weight of the toilet. It wasn’t nearly as heavy as I had thought. Which makes for a much easier install. I had concerns about durability because it was light but once you feel it it’s very well constructed. (Read my update) As far as the install goes, it’s the same as any standard toilet. It’s just a little bulkier looking than a traditional or even some of the more modern models. The odd thing is that the toilets really not that much larger the one I had just bought for my other bathroom but the design I suppose is what gives it that fuller or larger look. One key noticeable difference is just the bolts are hidden. The front-facing trip lever is unique too. It’s the small touches that they did with this product that I think really make this so great looking. Update: I should have put this up earlier, this toilet arrived broken. I didn’t notice the cracks in the tank until a little after I had wrote my initial review. The top tank is worthless now. I’m left with the base and trying to find a tank that I can replace it with. The actual ceramic is broken. I’m really disappointed with this and had to remove this toilet almost immediately. I wish I was able to post a picture of it. Just be cautious and look at the tank closely. It looks as others have not had this issue so I could have just received a defect or broken at some point in the line which is why I’m only lowering it to 3 star. Just wished I hadn’t put so much effort in. ... show more
