  • Unpack all the parts and understand the flow of assembly before you start.
We bought this toilet for the dual flush action (which works perfectly) as well as the concealed trap way, which will make it easier to clean. Just installed this today, so this is an early review before we have even used it. Because it is an enclosed trap way, the assembly is a little different than normal, though not too big a deal. The holes in the bowl to snug it up to the wax seal are smaller than what I have been used to, so you have to measure the distance with the bowl upside down to set the closet bolt to the correct width to get through the holes. IMPORTANT! They supply the closet bolts, though they come in the tank box, which we didn't bother opening until the bowl was set with purchased closet bolts from a hardware store. NOTE: The closet bolts they supply are far superior as they fix the bolts securely as you are trying to guide the bowl on to them. The junk I thought I needed from the hardware store had a plastic washer that would normally hold the bolts in place for larger diameter openings, but I kept hitting the bolts with the frame of the bowl, pushing the bolts down through the plastic washer, resulting in the bolts falling to the floor. Irritating, but this was my own fault for not unpacking everything beforehand and understanding the installation procedure, which is a bit different from "normal" toilets. I also had a unique problem in that the ring for the closet bolts was raised above the height of the floor by some 70 mils. The available clearance on this toilet is only 62 mils, so this required shims under the tank to keep it higher than the ring in order to level it. I suppose when the bathroom was roughed in, the builders made the ring high enough to accommodate setting tiles, but my floor has remained coated concrete, so it was too low. So I had to shim the toilet, and now have to figure out how to caulk underneath it to conceal the gap. I'd like to use an adhesive caulk, as that would help with stability, but haven't decided yet. So far, there are no leaks, which is a huge plus. So the design is sound. You might as well plan on throwing away the seat that comes with the toilet unless you are petite in the rear. It is a half inch narrower than the bowl rim and, believe it or not, that makes a huge difference. On top of that, the seat is higher on the edges and slopes down toward the center, again not compatible with the typical American tush girth. On top of that, it is plastic. I will be going out tomorrow to buy a wood seat that is relatively flat and matches the width of the bowl, if not a bit wider. The height seems fine to me, but we have not yet "put it through its paces" in a combat scenario. Should be fine. Overall, I like the features of the toilet like the dual flush and the concealed trap way, though the latter complicates the installation. But since that is only a one time thing (hopefully), it is worth the extra work to save time later. Too early to say if I could recommend this for other buyers. Our hope was to replace all three toilet in the house to match, but we need to confirm we like it before ponying up the green. So this review was basically about the install and the warning to array all the hardware out before you start, no matter which box it comes in. Oh yeah, it is not noisy! ... show more

  • Just alright....
We recently remodeled our home and I purchased this dual flush toilet based upon the good reviews online and because it was relatively inexpensive. I guess you get what you pay for. My biggest complaint is the flushing buttons...as mentioned in other reviews, they really do feel cheap and plastic. I could live with that fact but my biggest complaint is you have to hold the buttons down to flush. My small children seem to find this concept difficult. It is like an old school toilet where you have to hold the handle down. We have a Toto dual flush in our master from pre-renovation days and I wish I had spent the extra money to get another one for the downstairs bath. This toilet is fine but I feel like it uses a lot more water than advertised due to the fact that you have to hold th buttons down. I haven't noticed a significant difference in the flush levels based on which button you push. The Toto has noticably different water volumes. ... show more

  • Nearly Great
The toilet looks great and works fine. Very sleek design. I would suggest downloading the specification sheet (PDF) from American Standard's website beforehand, because the location of the water supply line is critical, in order to avoid interfering with the unusual rear contour of the toilet. Note that Amazon's description of the toilet stated that it did not include the seat, so we purchased it separately at the same time. This toilet did come with the seat, requiring us to return the separate one at our expense. ... show more

  • Such a nightmare
Bought in 2013, hate it with passion for over 2 years. First of all, installation was a nightmare. I have replaced several toilets in my lifetime, and this one was hands down, the worst. It took hours. For comparison, I installed another brand in the downstairs bathroom and was done in about 40 min start to finish. The installation wouldn't have been so bad, if this thing worked as advertised. About a year in, it started having issues with the flush, i.e. wouldn't flush properly and empty the bowl. Bizarre stains appeared at the bottom, where the water drains, and are impossible to clean because of the angle of opening. The manual has no instruction on how to adjust the Flushmate part, which is responsible for how much water goes down the drain. The AS website directs me to the Flushmate website for instructions on how to repair/adjust, except I can't find that particular model. So far, it wastes far more water than my old toilet, because I have to flush several times. ... show more

  • Functional and stylsih!!
We wanted these toilets for 3 bathrooms that we were remodeling. We had been told by our contractor that they could not get this toilet until September as it was on backorder. I looked on Amazon and found them within minutes and since we have Prime, we had 3 of these delivered in two days for $75 less (each) than we had been quoted for our remodel! This is a sleek, stylish, and functional toilet. Love the 2 button flush as well as the soft close lid, which was included even though the description said it was sold separately. Could not be happier!!! ... show more

  • Nice looking toilet, plastic push button arrived broken
The push button assembly is being replaced at no charge directly from American Standard. This falls under their 5 year warranty. It's easier to replace this small plastic piece than to return some/all of the toilet. I just wish the American Standard design engineers specified a stronger material.

  • Great modern toilet, sleek design, great value
It's a great toilet, looks sleek and modern and performs well, the dual flush is a nice feature, it does a great job staying clean. The hidden trapway makes it very easy to clean all around, our contractor had it installed in about half an hour and said it was pretty easy even though it's in a tight corner. It comes with a very nice, high quality seat that closes slowly, which is great if you have small kids, nothing slams down. I'd definitely but it again. ... show more

  • Looks nice; Difficult install
Very nice product. Contractor complained it was difficult to install. From an owner's standpoint - it's worth it to have a sleek, easy-to-clean toilet
