    • Bad flapper, wasted water
I like this toilet, it is quiet and very efficient. The problem we encountered, it was wasting water for months because we did not realize the flapper did not create a good seal. After realizing that it kept on losing water and it refilled (no way to know how often), we contacted the manufacturer, they gave us indications to do a test and the results suggested it was the flapper. They sent a replacement at no cost, but the same problem occurred. There was no good seal and another few weeks of wasted water ensued. I called the plumber and he replaced the flapper with another brand (do NOT use the one provided by American Standard, similar to the Fluidmaster flapper). He told me that he sees this problem with other American Standard toilets that have this type of flapper. He uses a different brand and it WORKED! Problem solved but the change to a water efficient toilet cost us a lot of water the first 3-4 months. I am yet to contact the manufacturer to let them know. ... show more

    • Nice toilet for our space
This was the smallest, 10 inch rough in toilet we could find for our very small bathroom. Overall, we are very please with the ease of installation, look, and good flush. The only disappointment is the height of the bowl. We expected more of a "comfort height" and this is one is pretty much standard height. ... show more

    • Base was not flat

This toilet was a replacement for an existing one. When I positioned it it was rocking front to back. The old toilet was completely flat so I knew it wasn't the floor. Upon inspecting the underside of the American Standard I found that the feature that ran across the narrow width was actually higher than the outer edge circumference. I had to grind the material until it was no longer proud of the edge. Then the circumference was not entirely flat and also needed to be ground down until it laid flat against the floor. This took about 7-8 grind and test fit episodes. One of the two bolt cover plastic domes was damaged in shipping. Other than that, the toilet is excellent but with the kind of rework needed, I cannot give this more than two stars since most home owners will not have a grinder to fix it. ... show more

    • NO FLOW.
I have been happy with my other Cadet and Champion toilets. This bowl is "flowise" which really means NO FLOW. The holes under the rim of the bowl are so small that hardly any water rinses the bowl. This is especially a problem if you do not have chlorinated water (well water). Any matter that collects in the tank will clog the bowl rim holes and no water will flow at all. Unfortunately, 10 in rough toilets are special order. They cannot be inspected before the purchase. Another issue I have is American standard makes two versions of the Cadet 3 toilet and the tanks are not interchangeable. This also has caused me grief. ... show more

    • A really great high quality toilet!!
This is a great toilet that does everything advertised and more. Very easy to install with everything you need from the factory, including the neat little wrench to install the tank bolts. This flushes with authority, and refills quickly. We did have a slight quibble with a poorly produced tank top, but a call to AS netted us a new one without question. ... show more
