This is amazing✨ I prefer push mowers because they’re eco friendly, quiet, you can do it at night when there’s not so many passersby and nosy people watching you etc, it doesn’t cost for gas etc. The last one I had was the orange lawnmaster. I’m so upset I didn’t get this one first! This is much better and more efficient; like the lawnmaster screws came out mid mow🫠 couldn’t find replacement screws there’s no Walmart or home depot etc near me, so my grass got kind of high with all kinds of other plants growing in it while I searched for a new mower and i was so intimidated like ‘omg the lawnmaster could never tackle this I hope this new one is better’ and omg it is!🥲 it’s so smooth and easy to use and the blades are amazing and hypnotic it’s actually really fun to cut grass with this lol I’ve been so excited because this is my first time having a house with grass to cut and care for prior to this I had never cut grass before in my life and always wanted to lol get you some headphones and music and get out there it cuts super quickly so you’ll be done in no time. 10/10 highly recommend✨👏 the assembly was super easy too. I can’t believe everyone doesn’t use a push mower like this to be honest it makes grass look better than gas mowers and grass results and helps grass grow become more plush somehow like before I moved into my place there were lots of dry patches in the grass that remained when I was paying for guys to cut it with gas mowers but with a push mower somehow the clippings nourish the ground and fills in dry spots and over time the entire yard/area is green I think that’s so cool ... show more

I like this mower very much. It does a wonderful job cutting delicate, newly grown rye grass, and the stiffer, and more robust weeds and feskew in our side yard. The cut from this mower is significantly more even and straighter than a power mower. There is a hypnotic effect from watching the blades rotate, while tossing up grass blades, nice a quietly. It does not kick up loads of dust when rolling over bare sections, which is very nice when it's super hot out. the mower only weights about 15-20 pounds, so it's very easy to push it up hill, or down hill, or over uneven and bumpy spaces. It is easy enough to push and I don't think I could call it a "work out". This mower completely takes the "chore" out of cutting the grass. Pulling out the big mower, filling the gas tank (and GETTING gas), priming the engine, and pulling to start the super loud piston engine. All that "prep" is gone. no need to psych yourself up to mow the lawn, so you can cut your grass regularly, to keep it looking good all the time. a slight down side is that the blades are approx 2-3 inches from the outside of the wheels, so plan on using an edge trimmer if there's a wall, or a barrier adjacent to the grass. Initial assembly was simple, and occurred in 5-10 minutes max. You need not be a mechanical engineer to assemble this. Anyone will assemble this with ease, regardless of mechanical aptitude. I purchased and installed the matching catcher, that clips on to the sides and hangs from the handles. It took less than two minutes to assemble and install and works pretty well. It does not catch 100 percent of the clippings. Last evening, while cutting grass in the wind, some of the clippings blew away before landing in the catcher. The range of adjustability of blade height is also quite nice. You have three holes in the mower, to raise or lower the cutting height, and three other positions in the plastic fitting to raise or lower the cutting height for a good incremental range of height. You must use a wrench to unscrew the nut to position the bolt in the correct spot. It is not a quick lever adjustment like on many power mowers. But this thing costs less that 100 dollars. Despite this lack of quick adjustment, it's still a fabulous mower, and a great value that provides a great result. I am very surprised that these manual, or "reel" mowers are not more popular, or mainstream. If I had a very large yard, I'd go for a larger 18-20-24 inch version, and still get the job done, quickly, quietly, and efficiently. ... show more

I have owned a Craftsman brand reel mower, and ended up bashing it into the ground and pummeling it with a sledgehammer. I hated it that much, and it cost almost twice as much as this one. This review will identify issues with the mower and what I did to get around the issue, and finish with the conclusion of performance. 1. Handles will bend under too much pressure: you will have to work to push the mower through the yard, however when the mower gets stuck (it will), brute forcing through the patch will only frustrate you and bend the handle (thereby pissing you off). Solution: use technique to restart your cut. 2. Crabgrass will stop the blades. Solution: attack the crabgrass from different angles until you find the angle that cuts the grass without binding. This is why in the older movies/tv shows someone was complaining about crabgrass and how much of a pain it was to mow. It can be done though. 3. Thick grass will stop the blades. If the grass is too tall 4" and higher, you will have a rough time. no questions asked. Back the mower up just a bit to where you just cut, and give a short push, letting momentum run over the grass in front of the mower. I have also had success with lifting one side of the mower up at an angle for a short bit to get the cut started (this only had to be done on the first cut on the lawn). Sometimes all you need is a small push and things get moving, I'll sometimes push forward on either wheel and the blades get going right away. it takes a while to figure out the best method for your lawn, but when the grass gets too tall, it wads up under the feeding blades and just binds up on the cutting surface In those same old TV shows this was why the dad would get upset at the lawn not getting done...it would take all the longer the next time it was done. My first cut had grass that was 4.5-5" tall. It took me forever. Solution: mow weekly, and understand that the longer the grass, the thicker the grass, the more work you will do. Now that I have done the mowing once, and learned how much work was in fact involved, I keep it rimmed at a minimum weekly. If there is a spot growing faster than the rest, I'll hit it. When the rest of the yard is ready for a mow, then the whole yard gets mowed. Ever since then it has been smooth. 4. Sticks will stop the blades. They do. it happens. just like with the wads of grass that may bind up the blades, I have found an easy way to clear the stoppage is to use my foot and push the blades in reverse (they will freewheel). Conclusion: Any reel mower will require effort when you use it. If your idea is based on a whimsical save the planet and go for a leisurely walk behind your human powered mower and have the clippings just flying off butter smooth, you need to be ready for the reality of the work you will invest. It isn't terrible, but understand that you will have to work, you may even sweat. Someone in a previous review stated that these mowers were replaced by gas mowers for a reason, and I agree that gas mowers are easier and time savers. However, once I got the initial cut made, and learned how to handle the various spots in my yard with this mower including the crabgrass, it's a salad shooter. I'm keeping it. Why 4 instead of 5 stars? because I couldn't go 4.5. Because of learning the handle issue and the rollers needing a bit of additional adjustment to stay in place after the initial run, it seems as though those points of the mower could have been designed with a little more strength. This is a good mower based on my experience with it after 2 months. I do like the fact that both wheels house driving mechanisms for the blades, and the fact that there is enough weight to this mower to keep it from bouncing all over the yard. If I had purchased this instead of the craftsman, I may very well have never owned the gas mower that filled the gap between them. ... show more

LITERALLY BEST PURCHASE EVER! We needed something simple and affordable for the backyard and this was an amazing choice. ALSO if you want grownups, teens, and kids alike to fight over who does the lawn THIS IS THE PRODUCT FOR YOU. It is soooo fun. A plus was the assembly; no tools required and SO SO simple. Very lightweight, and smooth enough to push with one hand. A couple of things to keep in mind: -It only cuts when being pushed forward (if your grass is super tall/thick, simply go back and run it over one more time) -Corners/Edges/small spaces You won’t be able to get the edging/corners perfectly since there’s a few inches all around but we personally do not mind(if you do mind, you’d have to have string trimmers or manual edgers for that). As per small spaces they have lots of different sizes so maybe just look at the specs prior to purchase to see what would be good for your needs. **edit to add I mean edges with gates/obstacles/etc. If it’s all flat/just walkway/driveway it cuts perfectly. Tip: you do have to “sharpen” the edges every 6 ish months (depending on usage), so you can purchase the sharpener for about $25 OR get the grass catcher/sharpener combo for $50 (which is what I’d recommend). I’m sure with good maintenance this thing can last forever. (For reference we got the maroon color/ 5 blade/ 14” size) Posted a few before/after photos, hope it helps! Happy mowing! ... show more

This is an AMAZING little gadget!! It was SUPER easy to assemble (3 bolts and 2 little clips) and remarkable to use! I see many reviews that say NOT to get a reel mower if you have lots of twigs/roots etc.. but that’s precisely why I purchased this! Also, it is not just for use on small lawns! I recently moved into a home with a yard that has seen better days. The back yard is uneven with stray concrete patches, exposed roots, tree stumps, and many types of weeds. The blades on a gas push mower would get warped in one pass! With this mower; however, I can take the time to pick up any larger sticks or rocks as I go, roll over the roots with no problem, and get a work out at the same time! Let me stress, I am not tall or strong.. a regular push mower wears me out.. but this mower is light, very easy to push, easily maneuvered to put away, and still does a fine job on the lawn! Understand that you may have to make multiple passes over thick weeds to get the full effect (and it doesn’t cut wild onions) but it is well worth the effort. I like that some of the most pervasive weeds lay down instead of being cut because that singles them out and I can hit them up with an organic weed killer! Wonderful little mower! We bought this for ease of use (no gas, no trailing cord), lack of noise and air pollution, and affordability. We have a steep lawn, too, and a manual mower felt safer (you stop and it stops, no whirring motor-driven death blades). On those counts, this mower has more than met expectations. However, it has two major flaws. First, any twig (down to 1/8" diameter) will stop it, forcing you to stop, reach between the blades, and pull out the twig. I expected that it would stop with sticks, but even the tiniest twigs we have stop it. Second, it does a terrible job on tufts of grass, grass seed stalks, etc. We have the mower on its highest setting, but it just bends over tall plants rather than cutting them. I'll go over the same tuft of grass many times from different directions -- if I'm lucky, eventually the tall grass will be matted down or crushed, but not cut. We just bought a sting trimmer to deal with any tall (>4" grass) due to this issue. I imagine this wouldn't be a problem for someone with a nice sod lawn they cut frequently, but for people like us who do the lawn only when it starts looking a bit ragged (yes, we're "those neighbors"), this is a major flaw. ... show more

I haven't had a mower of any kind in years, and I have had a couple like this -- push reel mowers -- in the distant past. This thing does work. Blades are sharp, and it is reasonably easy to push. It cuts. It won't cut down foot-high (or 6-inch-high) grass. You need to get the overgrown parts in shape before and after you use this push mower. I used a scissors-style hedge trimmer to deal with the stragglers -- this mower bends but doesn't cut them. It's not supposed to. If you keep up with the lawn and mow weekly, this machine is perfect. It's quiet, needs no power (other than your own "push" power) and little maintenance. They say to oil it with WD-40, and I have a can ready for that. It's the "American" Lawn Mower Company, but this thing is made in China. At this price, how could it not be? I recognize that an American-made mower, if one is really being made these days, would cost much more. I appreciate the affordability, and this thing is well-constructed. It goes together fairly easily with no tools. The instructions and diagrams (especially the diagrams) could be a lot better, but it's pretty obvious how it goes together. They tell you to put soapy water on the handlebar grips so they slide on more easily. A nice hack, but they should have just done that at the factory, and better-quality grips would be welcome. These are just foam -- not the greatest. tl;dr For the price, this delivers great value and does the job. I would buy again. ... show more
