Every developer should have a workstation with one of these microprocessors. I like to write multithreaded algorithms like matrix multiplication in C/C++. Owning this processor put me in the big leagues, where problems I used to be able to ignore, problems that only impacted big companies like Google, I finally got the opportunity to take a crack at. It presented an enormous opportunity, because I was able to make a name for myself being one of the first person in my field to bring these kinds of CPU optimizations to the open source community. In a few years I imagine everyone is going to have a CPU like this. I'm not sure if they're ready for consumers quite yet. But any developer who doesn't have this is going to be left out like a dinosaur. ... show more
