  • Great for Sub-$300 in 2025. No issues. Runs at good temps under load.
Great for the price. The multitask is good and efficient. For AM4, this is pretty much like the 5950X, so basically the top of the line, if you will. Pretty sure it will last another good 5 years before it starts to fall off to newer tech and software upgrades. Good for gaming. Pair with a decent GPU and you have a mid-high tier gaming PC/Workstation. Runs at 70 Deg C under load with AIO. That's very good in my book. ... show more

  • Cool , and fast , no regrets !
Grabbed this 5900xt to replace my 5900x (a nice over clocker) , as the 5900x was going into another rig . ~ So far the 5900xt has been fantastic , cool and fast . ~ Doing a somewhat mild PBO overclock, the chip does consistent 5100/5150+ on most cores (and up to 5265+) . ~ The chip has been 100% problem free, and its matched with a MSI Tomahawk 570S Wifi and 64 gig 3600 (2x32) . ~ I do has ths chip under water (a mild Alpha Cool setup with two rads) .This chip will definitely AND EASILY hold me off till AMD 6 . *** Added note : I do heavy game with this also with 3 34" Ultrawide monitors in AMD EyeInfinity (3 screens as one) using a Sapphire 7900xtx Nitro+ at a resolution of 10300 x 1400 . No problems running any AAA game , with this 5900xt and 7900xtx . ~ Again Iam pretty well set till AM6 . ... show more

  • 2024 another new AM4 cpu. We need more AM4 CPU in the future
16 core / 32 threads CPU , Great option if you still in AM4 Platform. I Replace the 5700x3d with this one. I need more cores. Hopefully AMD release 5900X3D and 5950x3d for the future. Price is great of this CPU and I get high fps during gaming as well. I use Cpu air cooler Zalman it cool it so well. The temperature is low. Good cpu. Thanks AMD ... show more

  • no problems with CPU, box seals look intact. Box was a little dented.
no problems with CPU, box seals look intact. Box was a little dented. There are a lot of security features on in that seal! Boots fine, tests fine, nice final upgrade to AM4 system, and maybe I'll never buy any DDR5 at all. 16 CPU's ought be enough for anybody... I am seeing some odd high temperature comments in other reviews, FYI mine runs around 31C idle, and I've seen a peak about 64C in 30sec full load, using HeatSinkFan Thermaltake? Peerless Assassin 120? 6heat-pipe . So maybe thin out your layer of thermal grease and make sure it is sitting level and not pressing on your DDR or something. But I do not game for extended periods, maybe that is the diff. ... show more

  • A powerhouse on the AM4 platform !
The Ryzen 9 5900XT is a powerhouse on the AM4 platform, delivering performance that sits just below the top-tier 5950X. The minor 100 MHz clock speed difference is practically unnoticeable in real-world use.At under $300, the price-to-performance ratio is outstanding. Furthermore, its thermal efficiency is impressive: using a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE Black CPU Air Cooler, my temperatures never go above 40c, even during full load.Highly recommended—this is a fantastic CPU! ... show more

  • Excellent upgrade for AM4 platform
Very pleased with this purchase. Upgraded from Ryzen 7 2700. This new CPU performs much better! What I did not expect was the ECC RAM I used for my older CPU was not compatible with this one. The PC would boot, the fans would spin at full speed, and it would never post. I needed to use the PSU switch to turn it off. I tried many things, including clearing the CMOS, but eventually it began working after changing out the RAM. ... show more

  • Fast CPU, does run hot
Fast CPU, does run very hot. Apps all load pretty much instantly now, thanks to it's 73 megs of cache. Very smooth CPU. Update** Undervolted all cores with a slight .06 offset and system is very stable running significantly cooler. Update 2** I didn't feel like I was getting the performance I desired while this CPU was Undervolted so I upgraded to a 360 mil AIO cooler and set the CPU turbo mode back to "auto", now I feel like I'm getting great performance. This is a beast of a CPU and it runs very hot without an undervolt. A 360 mil cooler is highly recommended to get good performance out of this CPU. My CPU now peaks at 78 degrees C, was peaking at 90 with my air cooler. Just shows how hot this CPU runs. Granted the load that I give my CPU is just standard load running multiple games, not a full CPU load benchmarking software load. So 78 degrees C with a 360 mil AIO cooler under a medium load, CPU runs hot, very very hot. 420 mil cooler would probably do a bit better. You will get the most performance out of the CPU with a strong cooling solution. Stability will improve as well. ... show more

  • ALL THE CORES, just not particularly fast cores. Great sawn song for end of life AM4 platforms
This is probably the most cores per dollar you can buy right now and is a great end stage upgrade for the AM4 platform, especially for the price. Granted these are only Zen3 cores, so they are not super fast compared to a modern Zen5 based Ryzen, but you're getting 32 threads out of 105W. Mine idles around 50 degrees with a tower cooler with silent fans and tops out at about 90C under load. If you're willing to put up with more noise, you can easily get this down into the 80s under load. If you're a gamer, you should be looking at the 5700X3D, but if you use anything that can benefit from 16 cores, this chip is a very functional number cruncher on a budget. Just be aware that there is a USB stability issue with B550 boards and the Ryzen 5000 series that can cause onboard USB ports to randomly disconnect. There's various solutions floating around on the internet, but just be forewarned that you could be adding an aftermarket USB PCIe card to the cost of the 5900XT if you're intending on using this as your final AM4 platform upgrade. ... show more
