  • Perfect for gaming!
I recently built a PC with this absolute powerhouse of a CPU, and it has great quality, considering its value for the price. My PC performs very fast and well with this CPU, and best of all, it is silent!

  • Affordable and worthy entry into the AM5 platform
Was bought to test out if it is good enough to replace a Ryzen 7 5700G setup. Pro 1: Worth cost of entry to AM5. It essentially matches the Ryzen 7 5700G in performance with less and weaker cores (more on that in the cons). Pro 2: Extremely easy to cool. Pro 3: Decent beginner gaming. It can play AAA games at 1080p w/ low settings ~30 FPS. It can play Indie games at 1080p with mid to high settings depending on the game. Con 1: Not a true Zen 4 CPU because 4 out of 6 cores is smaller and the MHz is cut down. AMD calls them Zen 4c cores. Con 2: Annoying IHS that traps TIM. Pro Tip: The Zen 4c cores are actual desktop CPU cores and not laptop cores like Intel’s E-Cores. *** UPDATE *** No longer recommend as entry to AM5 because the 8600G has dropped significantly in cost. ... show more

  • Solid AM5 choice in this price range
When I switched to the AM5 socket I got this CPU at first while I was waiting to get my hands on a 9800X3D. It worked just fine for the time that I used it and was actually surprisingly faster than I expected it to be for a little bit more of an entry-level CPU. I did finally get a hold of the 9800X3D so I no longer use this, but I did not return it and will keep it as a back up in case I have a very rare CPU failure and need something on my board in the meantime of getting the other one replaced if I would have to RMA in the future. ... show more

  • Budget Beast with a Side of Sass!
This Ryzen 5 8500G is a 6-core, 12-thread champ that powers my PC like a caffeinated squirrel! The Radeon 740M graphics let me game at 1080p without a pricey GPU—indie titles run smoother than my dance moves. Easy to install, stays cool with the Wraith Stealth, and my wallet’s still chuckling

  • Might need to update the bios!
The media could not be loaded. Great processor. For work and entertainment. Plus integrated graphics, standard cooling copes perfectly. Easy to install. Price-quality determines the choice.

  • Good For Tight Budgets
The Ryzen 5 8500G is not something I'd recommend for anyone who can afford a little extra to go for the Ryzen 5 8600g. However, it is still a good processor and it does what I need it to. I was on a very strict budget and the 8600g was outside of it. The good about the Ryzen 5 8500g is that it is a fast CPU with great onboard graphics. The main two problems I have with it are its limited PCIE lanes, making it terrible for upgrading to a dedicated GPU later down the lines, and the fact that its price is son similar to the 8600g that it makes more sense to buy that. The 8600g has enough PCIE lanes to afford a good dedicated GPU later down the line and it is slightly more powerful. ... show more

  • Preferred CPU
I have used multiple versions of CPUs in my time some Intel and others like this monster of a CPU that was able to handle the traffic and gaming entities that I threw at it. Great addition to my gaming build.
