  • A solid good performing CPU with plenty of punch for gaming and multitasking
Style: Desktop Processor
Worked like a charm and gave me no trouble when I installed in on my new ASUS ROG motherboard. I built a new system as I finally moved to Windows 11 and I was a bit concerned that all new hardware would cause me some problems in set-up but that wasn't the case. The heat levels are well controlled by both software and the cooling fans that I installed. I use stand alone Nvidea graphics card and the system delivers excellent grahics for the level of online gaming I do. All together I'm pleased with speed and power and 6 cores is more than enough for my purposes. It handles the 6 HDD & 2 CD/DVD recorder/players I still use once in awhile. ... show more

  • Fast Multi-threaded proc - great value
Style: Desktop Processor
I write this review in the midst of the great chip shortage and video card mining debacle of 2021. In short - my GeForce 980TI failed. Video card prices are through the roof, even the used market has gone stupid. I picked this up after watching some reviews online and reading about it. Lets get right to it. Gaming Performance - I play a mix of games - Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), Diablo II Resurrected, Outer Worlds, and Fallout 4. Stock cooler, stock speeds, motherboard set to XMP profile 2 on my RAM. ESO - 1080p, mix of low and medium settings - 45 - 70 frames per second with 58 being the average. Diablo II Resurrected - 1080p low. 40 - 60 frames per second Outer Worlds - 720p, high and medium mixed settings - 50 frames per second. Fallout 4 - 1080p medium, 50 - 60 frames per second I do not play competitive games like Fortnite or Valorant, though there are plenty of reviews of this chip playing those games on YouTube. So here are the pros and cons: Pros - fast, good chip, excellent multi-thread performance (so if you do any sort of encoding or editing of pics, vids, etc) this thing is super fast, the Vega 7 graphics are good for what they are. This thing overclocks like a champ too, I was able to get it up 4.4ghz with the stock cooler... I wouldn't leave it there, but if you pick up a better cooler this thing would be a rocket. Best of all it slipped right into a my MSI B450 Mortar motherboard after a bios update. Cons - If you want to overclock this thing you need to a better cooler. Period. You also need fast RAM for the best performance out of the both the proc and the video (I would say minimum of 3600mhz RAM... I am using 4400 mhz). The Vega graphics are perfectly fine by my standards (MINE), if you are a competitive gamer and need to have the highest, best, fastest frame rates all the time, then you'd be better off either scouring the used market or waiting for video card prices to return to some form of sanity. ... show more

  • The APU King for a Budget Mini-ITX Build
Style: Desktop Processor
This Ryzen 5 5600G was the perfect CPU for the compact PC I built a few years ago. It’s a powerful little 6-Core/12-Thread chip that offers incredible performance for the price. What makes it great for a small system is the integrated Radeon Graphics. This let me postpone buying a dedicated GPU for a long time without sacrificing general usability. It ran everything perfectly on the Gigabyte A520I AC motherboard and was reliably powered by the Thermaltake 650W PSU. If you’re building a small form factor PC or a budget gaming rig, this is the ultimate starting point. It works perfectly to this day and has been rock-solid. ... show more

  • Great CPU for cheap PC builder.
Style: Desktop Processor
Great builder CPU for basic home/office tasks. I built a budget desktop for basics and was trying to stay under $350 total. This is a great CPU for that and have not complaints about performance or efficiency. It runs very cool in a small case with minimal cooling options.

  • Good processor
Style: Desktop Processor
I'm quite happy with the upgrade. I've never had any issues with AMD CPUs, and they genrally cost less than Intel for about the same performance. I can't say how it would perform on a gamer PC. It handles general PC stuff like surfing and office work just fine.

  • It's a decent chip for everyday tasks; runs modern games 720p; Amazon sent me bent pins
Style: Desktop Processor
I love this little chip. Sips power and does regular computer + modern games pretty well. Quite a generational jump from the days of AMD FX series and the Phenom line. I remember building a comparable machine six or seven years ago using triple core chips on the Phenom line and feeling like i had gotten a pretty decent bargain for good power. These modern Ryzen 5000 chips are a whole new level of performance. Desktop feels peppy with a Samsung 980 SSD and my mATX build is cute and simple. I was able to put the computer together for less than $400 thanks to this APU. I woulnd't recommend this for any serious gaming at 1080+ resolution. Graphics Card prices are low enough now to justify a traditional GPU build. For less intensive use cases, this chip is it. It boosts quite nicely and consitently to 4400mhz and the FSB runs 1:1 with Hynix kit 3600 Cl16 kit I have overclocked to 3733 with tighter timings using Ryzen Dram calculator. Additionally, i used Ryzen Master's Curve Optimizer settings to get even better performance and efficiency. Playing Halo Infinite at 720p lowest settings I'm getting 30-50 fps and with dynamic resolution 60-80fps with the HWmonitor reading 65C. at peak. Not performance i would be satisfied with for competitive play, but that's just not what this APU is for. Using Cinbench R23 this chip will definitely ramp up to 70c. I don't think i've seen it at or near 80c with anything but Prime95 very small fft. The wraith cooler is more than sufficient for this chip. +Quick and Efficient +Low Temps with stock cooler +Value +Lots of Negative Curve Headroom using Ryzen Master +Infinite Fabric can match high ram clocks +60 FPS+ @ 720p gaming in modern games +6 cores, 12 threads feels somewhat future proof +Low Power draw @ 65watts -I'm kinda mad that mine came with three bent pins that i managed to fix. Amazon's fault and i feel kinda cheated. ... show more

  • Great poduct, comes with a fan!
Style: Desktop Processor
Used on my Gigabyte B450M board. It comes with a fan, so a little savings there. Works flawlessly, I'm a Half-Life nut, so maybe it's not as stressed as with other advanced games, but I'm happy. Used it on two builds.
