I was impressed by how thick the fabric is! While being thick and feeling nice, it also has a great stretch while being firm. Thus it definitely qualifies as tummy-controlling, in my opinion. The color is lovely and rich. Washing was easy and it really doesn't get wrinkled which is helpful. The back vent and seaming is a nice touch. However, I ordered based on my waist size (30", ordered a medium) when really I could have done with a large to accommodate my hips properly (41"). But if the waist were bigger, it would no longer fit high-waisted as I like. So, I would say the shape of this skirt isn't ideal for more curvy shapes. Its a nice addition to the wardrobe. Really high quality feeling. I probably should have gone a size up, I tried going to small when it should be medium. I probably should picked a different color, I don't know how to match with burgundy, but that's my problem. I feel like I'll look like an Emirates air hostess... When this arrived I thought it might have been sized a bit small, but it actually fits me well. It is made of a thick fabric and resists wrinkling. It's very much a staple type of item, probably good for a capsule wardrobe because it doesn't stand out. It loses a star for me because of the hem. My largest problem with this skirt is its lack of pockets. The material itself is a nice weight ponte that smoothes over any waistline imperfections. The color is a true black and it washed well. It's comfortable and the elastic waist isn't binding. It does run large in the waist.
