  • Extremely disappointed
Seems to work good, but arrived very banged up. Way too heavy and inconvenient to try to return for a replacement. Extremely disappointed I spent over $300 on something that wasn’t handled correctly.

  • Works FAST!
6 stars! Unbelievable how there are reviews with damaged units. The way this unit was packaged, it could fall off a truck and still be perfect. The package engineering was beyond overkill. Within 5 minutes, lowered the temp in my attic by 2 degrees. After 1 hour, it is 70f degrees in there. 98f outside, attic is 770sq feet. I had 2 6000btu portables that couldn't get the temp under 88degrees f. You will not find a better deal, dont be like me and do it all yourself, it weighs 78lbs...you can see my stomach muscle imprint on the condenser fins lol. All in all 100% satisfied. ... show more

  • Worst AC buying experience I have ever had.
First AC arrived with a huge dent in the back corner...it worked but made suspicios noises. The box had been obviously repaired and then shipped anyways despite the damage. Boxed it back up,ship it back, wait on a second one. Second one is in good condition. It squeaks and rattles. The remote buttons are so bad they stay pressed instead of popping back up.(screwing up your settings) AC is slow to respond to remote. Cools no better than my 8000 BTU did when it was new.(Frigidaire) Constantly coming on to sample the air even though it is set to "follow me"(annoying as hell) Has a freezing problem.WTH dosnt an AC have a sensor to tell it to shut off the compressor when it ices up?Instead you end up with a struggling fan and a hot room.Makes no sense. ... show more

  • Great Unit, Lots of Cold Air, will cool 2 Medium Size Bedrooms and a Hallway, Aprox 600 sqft.
This Unit pushes a lot of Cold Air, even when it's 90+ Degrees outside, before 2nd floor used to get between 85-87 on a 95 Degree Day, Now I keep 2nd floor at 77 during the Day and 75 at night. Remote included works OK, just point at the unit while pressing the buttons / functions on the remote ( No Batteries included 2*AAA ). I Might not recommend this unit for a bedroom, because it does sound loud, not crazy loud but loud enough, I think approx 78 decibels when at full speed. It is on the heavy side, specially towards the rear of the unit, the window sealing part is about 4 inches from the front our at about 30% of the total length, so I purchased an AC Window Bracket ( Several different models on Amazon ) and installed it in order to not rely solely on the window frame keeping the unit in place. The bracket allows the rear and heaviest part of the AC to rest on the bracket, and not just have the window frame support it in place. So Far very happy with the purchase. Also bought 4 year extended warranty because with this weather, it will get lots of use!. The unit is in my office and with the door open, it cools my office and another bedroom plus the hall / TV room. It will fit a regular Window Frame, it is not too wide, but it is deep, also get yourself some 3m Silicone Seal Strip,Weather Stripping for Door or Window,Weatherproof Soundproof Self Adhesive to seal the unit at the joints so no cold air comes out and no hot air comes in. ... show more

  • HORIBLE REMOTE and LED READOUT
I have a big house and do not believe in Central Air Conditioning. Instead, I have window air conditioners in each room and have done so for decades. This is a more economical way for me to control my electric bill. All the units I buy are 12,000 BTU's SO, in the last four years, I've bought four air conditioners here on Amazon. 3 1/2 years ago I bought 2 LG 12,000 AC's that were rated number 1 in consumer reports. They are NOT very good. The customer service at LG is horrible. On both units, the fans malfunctioned and I could NOT get LG to repair them so I foot the repair bill myself. In both cases is was the computer chip that controls the fans. Other problems occurred as well. SO, this year I had to replace two 9 year old GE models that I had on the first floor. I bought a Whirlpool 12.000 BTU because it has an EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) of 12.0. It burns VERY little energy but more important, it is rated GREAT for brownouts which are common here in NYC where the electric company lowers the juice on very hot days, and your AC just blows regular, uncooled air if the rating for brownouts isn't good. SO, the Whirlpool is great EXCEPT that the LED readout on the unit itself is so small and so dim that you have to go up to the AC to see what you set it on. Even so, for 400 bucks, I felt it was a good deal. THEN, I went to buy a second one and they were out of stock. (very common when you wait until after the middle of May to buy an AC. So, after seeing that all the highly rated AC's in Consumers Reports were out of stock, I remember how through the years, I LOVED every Amazon Basics gizmo in my house. SO, I checked the Amazon Basics out, saw it has an EER of 12.0 and saw the price was $329 ! ! ! ! ! SO, I bought one and spent an extra 40 bucks for a five year extended warranty from Assurion. It is GREAT, it is COLD, it works EXACTLY the same as the Whirlpool for 70 bucks less, BUT it is ALSO the same concerning the TINY LED readout that you can't see from across the room. On my two LG's, as much as I dislike them, the LED on the AC is BRIGHT and BIG and I can see them from across my 25 foot rooms. SHORT VERSION. This Amazon Basics is one great AC, but the LEDs are small and dim on the unit and the REMOTE marking look like hieroglyphics. This is because there are TOO MANY FUNCTIONS in my opinion. The ECO function doesn't save you much electricity. I NEVER used the DRY function that is supposed to just take humidity out of the air without cooling it etc, then there is an AUTO function. God knows what that means. I just want a remote that says Cool, Fan Only, Low, Medium and High, and Fan speed. THAT'S IT. All this other garbage makes for too many functions of the remote and the TINY LED's on the AC itself that are TOO DIM and TOO SMALL renders the remote USELESS. I just go to the AC since I can't see what the thing is set on when I'm right next to the unit. I have GREAT vision. No one in my home can see the LED's unless you right in front of the AC. SO, it's' one darned good AC as far as cooling a 12x25 foot area, but i HATE the readout so much, that I'm taking two stars off because the LED readouts on the unit and the complex remote really annoy me. GREAT PRICE!. COOLS ME VERY WELL. I keep the LG's in my the two bedrooms because you can see the readout on those from the bed which is over 20 feet away from the AC. I do NOT find this AC as loud as others have stated in their reviews. It is the same sound level as the Whirlpool. Installation is a breeze. There is no slide in chassis, but there is no problem when two people lift the unit up and put it into the window. My small wife and I did it. WELL worth the low price if you don't have to see the LED's from across the room. ... show more

  • Better quality than expected
Awesome! Love the way it cools my open floor plan. I used to have two smaller units but I replaced them with this unit. It was cheaper than buying two. Also my daily electric usage dropped significantly, I expected it to be the same or at best half my old daily usage. It is better than half the the old usage. I should have done this year's ago ... show more
