  • After 3 years: Sturdy and cat loves it After 3 years: Sturdy and cat loves it
Size: 20.0"L x 12.0"W x 12.0"H Style: Without Wheels
3 YEAR UPDATE: I can't believe I've had my kitty almost 3 years. I still have this carrier and still LOVE it. She still naps in it sometimes and she likes to jump in and out of it while playing. The carrier hasn't shown any signs of damage! It was a great buy that I highly recommend. The only drawback is that she's heavier so it's not as easy to carry her with the shoulder strap, but that's not the carrier's fault. Edited to add: It's been a few months and I still LOVE this carrier. My cat plays in it all the time and scratches at the sides but it doesn't show any sign of damage. I took her to the vet and liked how she could see her surroundings well while being secure in the carrier. I also walked to the vet and it was easy to carry using the shoulder strap. I really am very glad i bought this and my mom has one now for her cats to play in. Original review: I bought this to bring my new cat home from my mom's house, which involved a six hour car ride. I took it to my mom's and set it open on the floor, hoping the new kitty would get used to it and not be scared to go inside. Well, it was a huge hit with all 4 of the cats in the home. They took turns napping in it, and they played with each other through the mesh sides. I was a bit concerned how the mesh would hold up because the kitten seems to think it's a scratching posts, but so far it's fine. It was easy to coax her in after she had spend a few days with The carrier. The kitten didn't enjoy the long car ride and much meowing and scratching ensued, but the carrier was good and fit perfectly behind the front seats. Now we're home and ever though it's only been one day since her harrowing experience, she's already back to napping in the carrier. I guess it's her safe spot, which is great. I plan on buying another for my mom's cats because they loved the thing. I'll update of it doesn't hold up long tem, but it seems well built. ... show more

  • Very well made and sturdy
Size: 20.0"L x 12.0"W x 12.0"H Style: Without Wheels
When this pet carrier arrived I was afraid it would be too small for my 15-lb. cat. But he loves it! He has room to turn around in it and even likes to nap in it with the door open.

  • Good Carrier. Quite acceptable.
Size: 20.0"L x 12.0"W x 12.0"H Style: Without Wheels
Purchased the Large Carrier for a Standard/Mini dachshund mix: 17 lb dog/ 24" long. Fit just fine. It met airline requirement of the dog being able to comfortable turn around. I had to force this carrier under the seats. That was fairly easy because the body of the carrier is flexible. Thankfully my feet could still squeeze in alongside the carrier... Just make sure that the zipper is facing toward you so you can let them pop their faces out at you if they need comforting. You will not be able to easily turn the carrier once it is under the seat. OK, so my only issue is that the base is attached flimsily with 4 small velcro attachments in the 4 corners. As a result, the sherpa gets pushed to the side and wadded under the dog whenever they wiggle... Or if you are in my camp, you may have a burrowing dog (dachshund-type, terrier-types) and they get stimulated by it and begin pulling it up and trying to dig. The Sherpa padding is also quite thin. It does not do much to encourage them to "get cozy." It also does not really meet the requirement of being an emergency bathroom pad, which is an airline requirement... I would encourage amazon to amend that and make the padding thicker and more firmly attached. I am also not crazy about the strap.... But I am have no neck/shoulder problems so it was fine. If you have a stubborn breed (dachshund, terrier) you may like to hear what worked for me when it came down to introducing the carrier: I had great success with just leaving the carrier out in a random room with a piece of kibble in the back. Top open and front open. I came in the room later in the day and he was licking it all over on the inside, which is his way of getting familiar and leaving his mouth scent for later. Great! We had very little flight anxiety, overall. I was able to unzip the top enough for him to pop his head out as we flew. Note: My husband and I both took turns sleeping in a t-shirt the 2 days before and then put it into the carrier just before we put him in on the day of the flight... He covered his face with it and slept through the whole 6 hours. Seems like it worked out ok. Our dog isn't terribly anxious, though. So I am not sure how that might go for others, but it worked well for us. Altogether I am very pleased with this purchase. This carrier is affordable, gets the job done, and the velcro thing is easy to alter for the mischievous dogs. Hope this helps. :) ... show more

  • Would recommend.
Size: 20.0"L x 12.0"W x 12.0"H Style: Without Wheels
Would definitely recommend. I'm a frequent flyer with my fur baby, and have used this carrier many times for domestic flights. It is a tad larger than most under seat dimensions, so it will stick out. However, I prefer the larger size since my dog is almost 20lbs. Also all sides have mesh so there's a lot of airflow, which I prefer. The padding at the bottom is nonexistent, so I purchased the MidWest 18" crate mat as suggested from another reviewer. There's about an inch or two gap with the crate mat, but it works well to keep my dog cushioned while inside. Works so much better than a small blanket because I don't have to straighten out the blanket every time it bunches up. ... show more

  • Minimally adequate Minimally adequate

The people who complain about this carrier being small aren't kidding. We got the large (the biggest size available as of this writing) and it's small! Our 11lb cat only mostly fits! The fabric feels flimsy, especially the part that clips the handle together. The carrying strap is uncomfortable—and, annoyingly, attaches to the front-side door instead of the top. This means you must either make the strap very long—too long for my 5'6" frame—or unclip it to get the door fully open! Who wants to do that?? The pad feels "meh", not plushy or at all absorbent like the Sherpa pads—a big deal if you have a pet who urinates when scared. The attachment to the carrier bottom—shares Velcro—means you must choose between having the stiffening panel properly affixed (keeping the carrier from collapsing) OR having the pad firmly attached (keeping the cat from sliding)—you cannot have both. While the pad does sort of attach with the panel affixed to the bottom, it's very weak and my cat almost immediately got it loose. Additionally, the bag has basically NO give in any direction if the bottom panel is in place. This is sort of good—many of the other carriers we've owned have developed a tendency to fold in on the cats after a few years' storage—but also means it probably won't work for air travel. The bag is rather tall for its width, too, which makes me even more suspicious that it won't fit under airline seats. We don't plan to fly with this carrier, but I thought people should know. The thin width also means that even our smaller cat can get a front paw on each side of the top entrance and make loading her difficult. I'd rather have a wide but low carrier! We will need to buy a proper Sherpa carrier. I was hoping this one would do—it's half the cost—but it just won't. It'll work for quick vet trips until we get something better, but it's only minimally adequate. ... show more

  • I'd give it 10 stars if there's such option I'd give it 10 stars if there's such option

I was taking my 5-year-old-to-be 19lbs schnauzer to Europe for her birthday and shopping for a good travel carrier that she would actually go in and remain inside. She's a support dog so she's never been in any carrier during US domestic travels and she's been pretty much everywhere in the US. However, while she is allowed to travel in cabin w/o being inside of a carrier, she's required to have tickets when we ride trains together. The cost is about $37 a day, quite hefty. However, as long as she remains in a bag or basket then she rides for free. Before I ended up getting this carrier, i tried at least two other types from Amazon, both are the backpack type and failed. She would fight her life not going in, let along stay in. Finally, came across this crate carrier and was complete life saver, arrived really quickly and surprisingly sturdy as hell. Took about 2 tries to get her go in and quickly became comfortable with it. She would even go in on her own, waiting for treat. The crate has a very firm base and very comfy to sit in. It’s very lightweight and spacious to use as a travel bag when she doesn’t need to be inside. So I ended up using it as my overnighter a lot on this trip. I ran into people at the airport carrying exactly the same bag. This thing rocks, and way underpriced. I paid $28 for it and I believe it should’ve been double the cost considering the material and quality of this bag. Highly recommended. ... show more
