I was pleasantly surprised with this. I have a 500-something sqft apartment and only have this in the living room and one box fan in the bedroom. It's only 10k BTU and I probably should have gotten a bit more powerful one, but honestly, it works just fine and the apartment is comfortable. It's a bit loud though, but on par with any window AC unit.

The brown shipping box is all there is between your item and everything else being shipped. The top where the weight of other boxes being stacked (it's too heavy for anything else than a bottom ship) was too much for the weak styrofoam to withstand. Because the quality of the box itself is poor, the oversized window adapter piece was cracked. That piece is extremely important if you purchased this for a sliding window. The strength of that portion is vital for adding a plug to keep the piece from sliding downward in a vertical position. Clear backing tape can fix this issue but it is a band aid for something rather important. Purchased two. Both had some damage but one had damage to the motor and did not function properly. Amazon is working with us to refund it and picked up the heavy box for free. The unit itself has a good design that makes it look smaller than it is, has a back that allows an "S" curve to bend further in at the top, making it a little easier to get a little closer to the wall. Its ability for cooling large spaces is exceptional with its high capacity fan and high BTU. Still learning all of the features which seem pretty loaded for the price. It's cooling capacity is fantastic and has a very powerful motor, not the quietest but works for me. I will say, that since purchasing these, I found the same product under two other brand names but I doubt I'd find any of them. If these are to be continued (and I highly recommend Amazon do so) strengthen packaging by using a higher quality cardboard with stronger styrofoam. While waiting for this to arrive the weather cooled but...now that we have them, we seem to be going into more 105+ degree weather so....awesome for that! Oh yeah...shipping took a little long in my opinion but we have understand the high demand and the unusual circumstances of 2020. Overall, surprised by the quality and happy I canceled the Delonghi and got the Amazon Basics. Saved enough that purchasing two wasn't as painful as the last time we did that. :)

My husband and I can't say enough good things about this portable AC unit! It was a life saver Our AC unit decided to quit working just as hubby and I came down with COVID. Parts had to be ordered, our house got to 90 degrees (downstairs), probably 100 upstairs. We ordered this, it came quickly and we installed it in our family room. Set up was not difficult but we didn't have wood window casings so had to modify how we placed the foam around the window. We have a somewhat open floor plan so we had to hang up sheets to block off part of the house. The unit cooled our family room and kitchen to 84 degrees but that was good enough for us to be able to get some sleep and stay somewhat comfortable during the day. We had it running day and night for 3 days. We used the continuous drain method and emptied buckets every 4 to 6 hours. It was easy to run. And the value was fantastic! For $255 we now have a back up AC unit we can use with our generator during hurricane season if necessary. Great value! Highly recommend.

Well, I usually disregard people that have bad things to say about products. So I had an LG portable air condition, probably for about 5 years. And it finally quit, I know things.Don't last forever. So when I was looking for a new one, this Amazon basic seemed to be a reasonable price. And seem to be the almost exact model that the lg was. I saw some comments, It said this Amazon, basic portable air-conditioner Will only last 2 years. Maximum, I thought, how could that be. Well, I'll be d*****. I bought this in June of 2023. It is now close to june 2025, and it's done it no longer puts out air condition.And apparently no way to fix it. So, i'm gonna try my luck with cool sin. Portable air condition, it is more money, but the comments we're great. So yeah here we go again.

I've had this unit for 10 months in Houston. Long, hot summers and mild winters. My office is 12x12. Once the outside temp reaches 80+, the unit can't keep up. It's not a problem with the unit's cooling capability. It produces 60.6-degree air, just like my two Frigidaire units. The problem is that our climate is too hot/humid for this 10000 BTU unit to cool a 12x12 space (144 sq/ft), because this type of design needs to pull in as much air as it exhausts. It simply pulls in too much hot/humid air to keep up. Our 200,000 BTU unit works well in an adjacent 12x12 office. It also emits a chemical smell when it's cooling, which becomes strong in that small space. We keep both filters clean. IMPORTANT: The second filter requires unscrewing the lower back section, which is very inconvenient. Yep, my unit arrived with a broken case like many others. But coming in August meant I needed to put it to work immediately and forgo sending it back. Bottom line: if you live in a hot, humid climate, opt for a unit with more BTUs.

It's a little loud, but I'm not going to deduct a start for that since we sleep just fine with it in the same roomβthough it helps to leave the fan on, so the change in noise level is smaller when the AC starts up. All the parts needed were included.
