There was a tiny chemical smell at first but it was on the plastic that wrapped it, not the bed itself. The smell was gone within 24 hrs of letting the mattress settle and expand. Good quality and the mattress has a fabric zipped casing around it to protect it. My son has been sleeping longer because the mattress is so comfortable…. Wish it was mine! Overall very pleased and I would recommend. The mattress is holding its shape while being firm but also feels cushy. We have 2 of these mattresses in the 8inch for our girls and our son has the mattress that is 10 inch. The 10 inch mattress is more comfortable. The photo is the mattress 1 hour out of the box, it expanded more after 24 hrs.

I did get the plush but it’s too plush. Because of lack of density the middle part of your body sinks down too much in just a few minutes. It feels like you slept on a donut with your middle part in the hole. Maybe try a medium firm? I can’t exchange because, who wants to try that with a mattress?
