This is an exceptional dehumidifier. It's been run hard for the three weeks that I've owned it. And it's worked terrifically. I was pleasantly surprised because the reviews indicated a lot of negative comments. In fact, one reviewer indicated that CR rated it at a very low 35 on its performance scale. These points notwithstanding, I still decided to go ahead and buy it because of my positive prior experience with another Amazon Basics product (a Microcut Shredder). I'm glad that I bought it. It's performed better than my old Home Labs dehumidifier, which was very highly rated by CR a few years ago. I use it in my combined Laundry and Utility Room which is adjacent to a crawl space, so there's lots of humidity in these areas. The dew point has hovered in the 70s or tropical humidity since early July so it's been tested hard. It has passed with flying colors. The Control Panel is straightforward and intuitive. I run it on Continuous Fan so it only stops for the water tank to be emptied. The Humidistat is very accurate and maintains a comfortable setting. The Filter Alert Light is accurate and reliable. The Water Tank is more than adequate. The Wheels on it make it easy to move to other areas. I definitely would buy this dehumidifier again and I highly recommend it to prospective buyers. The only caveat at this point is whether it will continue to perform well in the long run. [As such, I will update this review at a future date.] Update on July 3, 2026: This year I've been running it since April and its performance has been exceptional. Presently, we are into our fourth heat wave so far this year. Temperatures have exceeded 100 degrees with high dew points causing the heat index to reach 115 degrees. My dehumidifier has done a terrific job of removing moisture in these extreme conditions. In summary, it's been run hard again this year and it has performed flawlessly.

Easy setup and operation. Ran units (2) in auto mode for 5 hrs and collected about a quart in both units. Dropping humidity to 47% from 65%. Quite satisfied with its effectiveness, noise is not an issue for me. Excellent space coverage considering size of unit. Unsure about quality and durability.

Conveniently, after the warranty ended, the dehumidifier would freeze up and develop ice on the back of the machine. I have ensured that the temperature in the room is not the cause, I've kept up with cleaning the filter and ensuring the back of the machine is also clean. I have also followed the recommended placement and the issue still persists. I will not be able to get my money back because, as previously stated, this conveniently falls outside of the warranty. I originally purchased this as a replacement for an older Amazon Basics Dehumidifier; I foolishly assumed I could continue to trust the brand. If you want a device that will work for 1 year and a few days, by all means buy this product. It's a great one-year rental. If you want to spend $200+ and expect something that works for several years. Look elsewhere.

I purchased two of these units, two years ago and am very happy with their performance. Kind of shocked at some of the bad reviews. On average days the humidity level will get down to the mid 30s with my machines. On very humid days both of my units will fill the 50 pint collection tank and keep the humidity in the lower 40s. The fan is fairly powerful, so I hear them come on and running, but it's not bothersome, and there are no aberrant noises. Moving to a bigger place so just purchased an additional unit. Will update my review in a few months.

We purchased this dehumidifier 4 months ago to reduce humidity in our very damp 1000 square foot cellar woodworking shop. Humidity in the space was around 90% when first plugged in and left to run until it filled its reservoir, which only took about 4 hours at that level of humidity. A length of garden hose attached to the drain outlet made it possible to run continuously, daily removing several gallons of water from the environment. Humidity steadily dropped over time, and the ELECTRIC BILL increased significantly. When the humidity fell to around 55% we put it on a timer that allowed the unit to run 4 hours on and 4 hours off--half time. Humidity continued to fall into the low 40% range so we reduced the run-time to 6 hours per day to effect energy savings. The unit necessarily moves a lot of air and it is not very quiet. As the cellar is used as a shop space, noise is not an issue, but in a finished room, that might be a problem. Overall, the unit does a good job in this working environment.

Living in the South, there are days where temperatures do not warrant turning on the AC or heater, yet humidity hovers around 90%+. After getting a humidity monitor, I discovered that my home’s humidity was fluctuating between 50-70% throughout these days. I purchased the 2500 sqft size dehumidifier, hoping it would dehumidify all rooms in my 1500 sqft home; I was not disappointed. Within a couple hours, humidity decreased from 65% to 40%, with the ability to maintain low humidity throughout the entire home. I am really happy with the product’s effectiveness, particularly since it was so affordable. My only complaint is that the fan is a bit noisier than I had hoped—certainly more than a “Whisper.” I would compare the noise to a box fan. That being said, it quickly becomes white noise. Other notes: - The unit does not put out a significant amount of heat - Some reviews have mentioned that the buttons are not necessarily self-explanatory, but the user manual explains them well enough - In order to maintain humidity at ~40-45%, I need to dump the tank approximately 2-3x per day; definitely not a nuisance: I usually just dump the water in the morning and at night before bed

After purchasing a 100% defective and garbage GE dehumidfier from Amazon a week prior to buying this one, I am very pleased. After letting it sit upright for 24 hours (as per the instructions) I fired it up and it immediatly started snatching moisture from my damp basement. The noise is low, the controls are easy to use, and it just flat out works. I use a continuous drain hose, so I cannot speak to how often the tank needs emptied. I highly recommend looking at this dehumidifier, because we all know the "big" brands are overpriced and built in the same country this one is anyways. Which, of course, is China.

Amazon gave me no choice but to leave this poor review. I have owned many dehumidifiers before, and I bought this Amazon Basics 50-pint dehum due to its supposed energy efficiency. What a lie. Amazon falsely advertised the dehum's water removal claims as well as the energy efficiency claims. The dehum in my garage connected to a hose removed less than one cup of water per day. That is pathetic and not even remotely close to what is advertised. Furthermore, even though I am not using continuous mode, the unit seems to be always running perhaps because it is not removing much water. A unit that is always running is the OPPOSITE of energy efficient. Also, this unit has a mind of its own regarding when to turn on and off. The dehumidistat is probably inaccurate (too). Consumer Reports's unbiased review of this 50-pint dehum is further proof that this product is garbage. CR scored the dehum a measly 35 out of 100. That is truly awful. CR rated the water removal the lowest score of 1/5 and efficiency a 2/5. These scores corroborate my findings. I reached out to Amazon multiple times for a refund, but they refused to help and even lied to me. The product is under warranty, but even if it wasn't, nothing gives Amazon the right to falsely advertise and/or sell a lemon. Now, I am dealing with so much mold due to excess moisture! Amazon totally screwed me over in many ways. Amazon will take or steal your money any way they can. They don't stand behind their own products. Also, Amazon customer service has drastically deteriorated from what it used to be. They have become downright crooks. They have even blocked this review.
