I got this mattress for my guest room, and was super excited for it. I did tons of research, especially with the drama surrounding fiberglass in mattresses working its way out and making people sick. I scoured Amazon for a mattress but nearly all of them contain fiberglass, even when the listing might suggest otherwise. was so happy to find that this Amazon Basics mattress uses FR Viscose for flame resistance instead of fiberglass. I checked the tags when it arrived and it indeed doesn't list fiberglass as a component. But be aware some of the other Amazon Basics mattresses DO contain fiberglass, so please check carefully. I got the medium-firm 12 inch Queen, I'd rate it a medium-plush personally. Unfortunately however, my mattress never fully inflated. It didn't reach the 12 inches, more like 10-11 inches overall, and it has a sizable divot in the middle of the right side, where there's a one foot circle that's about 1-1.5 inches lower than the surrounding. I gave it ~2 weeks because I wanted it to work so so bad, but it just didn't inflate any more after the first day or two. I flipped it around, stepped all over it, anything to try and get it to puff up, to no avail. I contacted Amazon support for assistance, and was really impressed by the customer service. I ended up stuffing some old towels under the area to prop up where it's sunken in, and now it's less noticeable. Hopefully it doesn't cause comfort issues down the line, but I'm okay with it especially with the peace of mind that there's no harmful fiberglass that can eventually leak out.

TLDR - Mattress is well constructed but the memory foam isn't dense enough to support me fully so I sink into the support layers without the cradling feeling from denser memory foam. It's not terrible, and is better then what I have used recently, but it may go back. And yes, it sleeps hot. I have been somewhat on a mattress sojourn the last 2 years after a decade old tempurpedic became too uncomfortable. The first 8-9 years with the Tempur were good, but I sleep hot, and vowed to move to something that had more air flow/didn't trap heat. I started with a bed in a box mattress that was great the first 30 days, painful the next 30 days, and returned shortly after. After that, I bought a cheap Ikea mattress after spending an afternoon at the store trying every one they had. I thought I had hit a home run - it was cheap, the one in the store was super comfortable, and it was a spring mattress so it would be cool. 90 days later my back was sore, my sleep was terrible, and I wanted to burn it. I had happend to travel for work, and stayed in a hotel where I got three nights of amazing sleep. I called the hotel and asked what mattress set up they had - and bought the retail version of it. But apparently something got lost in translation between the hotel version and the home version or my body rejected it after 90 days, but it too ended up being uncomfortable. So I finally gave up and decided I would get another memory foam mattress and deal with the sleeping hot with either highly breathable sheets/blankets or a fan. I did some research and after reading a gazillion reviews on the myriad of memory foam beds out there, I went relatively cheap based on the good reviews on Amazon for this mattress. My general thought was - it sounds as good as any of the others and is cheaper, and it's through Amazon. And.... it's OK. The big issue, in my opinion, is Amazon doesn't say what the foam density is. It says it's a medium firmness mattress which is highly subjective. As I understand it, there are different densities for memory foam. For instance, a soft memory foam can support 2.5 lbs per square inch, a firmer one 5 lbs per square Inch. I would guess this one is on the softer side because rather than cradle you like the old Tempur did, I kind of sink through and end up on the very firm support layers. If you have a softer memory foam, you probably need more than 2" of it. Denser ones probably work fine at 2". What this means for sleep - sleep is just OK on this mattress, not great. Some days I wake up with similar back pain as I did on other mattresses. Some days I sleep decent. This is a better mattress than the last three I have tried as I can get more than 6 hours of sleep on it before my body completely rebels, but it sleeps hot and I still wake up with aches. I will give it another 30 days or so to see if my body gets used to it, but I am starting to lean towards returning it. Rating mattresses is of course a very personal thing. We are all different. My recommendation on this mattress would be to pass on it, and find one that either had 3" of memory foam or denser memory foam so you get the true cradle effect memory foam is known for.

I am very pleased with this purchase. One thing I noticed was other companies even on here were offering 90 day to try it. Not sure what this offers but I knew based off past experience Amazon stands behind its branded products and other items they sell. It was super simple and easy to open and set up. As it says it does take sometime for it to fully expand to normal but that was not an issue. The bed in a box idea is great especially if you have narrow doors or hallways or for an RV. I was sad to see my mail man have to deliver this by himself. You should plan to have two people to lift as it is heavy. This was for a spare bedroom and it is on an antique frame. Due to this the bed doesn’t actually measure exactly a full size and is a little short. However, due to this mattress flexibility it is not an issue and it fits perfect. I have a very nice Serta mattress for myself, but I have been sleeping on this since arrived. Like I said just buy it now!

Every year for the last 5 years, I buy a new Zinus "spa sensations" 8" foam mattress. After about a year or two they start breaking down in comfort level and you can see a dip in the mattress. So I decided to give this Amazon version a try. It's been 3 days and I have noticed 1) it's more squishy then what I'm used to. I wouldn't call it a medium firmness at all, to me its soft.. 2) does seem colder then what I'm used to (which is a major plus). 3) it fully aired up after less then 12 hours. 4) if the person in bed with you moves, you will slightly feel it. So it does not absorb movement like a Temperpedic does. So far I hadn't woken up in pain like I did with my previous mattress. I will update if that changes.
