This is hands-down the best budget mattress. I recently purchased 10 budget mattresses for a vacation home. The brands include Amazon basic, Ashley signature design, Zinus green tea, vibe gel, and Allswell. Hands-down Amazon basic was the best mattress. Allswell is a very comfortable mattress but it is twice the price is the Amazon basic. If I had to do it all over again I would buy all Amazon basic mattresses for my whole house. What I like about Amazon basic mattress. First let me say I don’t know anything about mattresses- the density foam or any of that stuff, but I I know what a good night sleep feels like on a nice mattress. The Amazon basic is soft, but not too soft. It Is a medium firmness mattress. It’s not a pillow top but it feels like tmakers put a soft layer on top and it gives you a good night sleep. That top layer on the Amazon basic is the main difference between the green tea, vibe gel, and Ashley mattresses. Those are firm and you do not sink into them like you do with the Amazon basic. My son sleeps on the green tea mattress and he hates it; he says that you can only fall asleep on that mattress when you’re dead tired. When Amazon has their prime day I am buying him the Amazon basic mattress. My sister-in-law stayed in the room with the vibe gel and I asked her how her sleep was and she said I’m still breaking in the mattress. In other words that’s a hard mattress. The Allswell mattress is a very good mattress, but it is a little too soft for my taste. the Amazon basic is a little bit firmer but still soft. Additionally the Allswell mattress was twice as much If I had to rank order my mattresses of the ones that I bought they would be: 1. Amazon basic 2. Allswell (too soft) 3. Vibe Gel (those who like a firm mattress) 4. Signature design by Ashley (meh) 5. Zinus Green tea (feels sleeping a rug with a premium padding)

Was very skeptical about getting a mattress on amazon, but for the price I was very surprised at how comfortable it is. Just the right amount of firmness and softness. The quality for the price is amazing. It has given some much needed support so you don’t wake up with a sore back.

For the money, it’s a great mattress and it’s hard to find any real fault with it. I ordered the medium-firm Queen size and about the only that I don’t love and it’s of course very subjective is, it’s a little on the soft side for me. With that being said, it’s still very comfortable for me, especially considering it was a mattress purchased from Amazon without the possibility of trying it first. I was definitely a little nervous about that, but was pleasantly surprised. As for some of the other reviews mentioning odor, I did not experience any of that. I also found the packaging easy to open and lay the mattress out. It only took a few hours for the mattress take on its full shape. 4 out of 5 stars because I feel it’s a little soft for being a “medium-firm”.

I’m giving this a 5 star because it’s exactly what I needed and exactly what was pictured and described in other reviews. I bought a queen extra firm. It has helped my sleep and my back pain. It’s so comfortable I sleep flat on my back with no pillows and I wake feeling so good. I’m 40 so I still stretch when I wake and I have to say after that I am in remarkable pain free alertness. My old bed was horrible and thought to this can’t just be me it has to be the mattress. So I tried my mothers bed one day I visited I took a nap on it and that’s when I decided ok. I need to get one. The other reviews also helped A LOT. I didn’t realize how many people have back pain or neck pain because of the mattresses.

My stats: 6'1" 200lbs pinched spinal column, sciatic nerve impingement, poor sleeper, hot sleeper Absolutely LOVE this matress. When it arrived it was well packaged. Upon opening I had doubts it would expand fully. Took it to an open room and cut open vacuum sealed bag. Bed started expanding rapidly. A few hours later and it looked completely expanded but I followed the directions and waited. 72 hours later it was ready. I pressed on the top of the bed and I was worried, it felt stiff almost hard. I then laid on it and my worries went away as it formed around me beautifully. It is firm but very comfortable. The initial smell of plastic was almost completely gone. The first night I we slept on it I did not wake once during the night and awoke feeling really good. I have a bad back and since sleeping on this mattress I have noticed that I awaken with less back pain and stiffness. I am sleeping a lot better also. The gel top on this mattress is amazing as it keeps a nice cool layer even if you stay in the same spot for a long time. When summer comes I see this being a HUGE plus. Pros: Firm but giving, cooling, even firmness over the entire surface area, smell fades within days Cons: Honestly none as of yet I will update in a month or two. 4 month update: Looks and feels brand new. No dents, soft/hard spots, and no signs of wear or breakdown. We live in western Pennsylvania and it has been in the 90s during the day and 68-72 at night. The beds gel layer has been a Godsend. I go to bed 2-3 hours after my wife and when I sit and then lay down she never knows. My back has been better in these last 3 months than it has been in years. 1 year update: Still looks brand new. No bowing or drooping areas. Every night the wife and I get in it feels like the first night we slept on it. This mattress has literally helped me get the best sleep in the last year than I have in 20+ years of having a bad back. 2 year update: Yes, still in love! Every night feels like the first night in this dream. Cooling still works fantastic, it is still the same firmness as when brand new, and it stills forms to my body perfectly. Would and will buy again! 5 year update: Still like perfect. Every night is a great sleeping experience. Holding up like it is new.
