I already have a couple of 8" chef knives. They are not super high end, but they are pretty nice and they cut great. I am thinking of starting some cooking classes and I was looking for an inexpensive knife that I could recommend to my students. Look no further. First of all, I love the size, compared to the 8" knives. It has great weight, and grip/bolster/handle, which all help with control. It cuts great. I guess the only gripe I might have is that it seems to lose sharpness sooner - though maybe it is because it is now the knife I go for most of the time... and let's not forget about the price. I got it during Prime Days for around $7, but even at it's regular price of around $12, it is a super great value. ... show more

    • Very good knife for the price
I was really surprised with this knife. I didn't realize how dull my old chef's knife was until I used this one. It was very sharp right out of the box. It has been through multiple trips in the dishwasher (I know), and it still cuts like it was new.

    • Great for the price. Came very sharp and has held its edge with honing through a few uses.
As I said, it came VERY sharp and, with honing, has held that same edge through about 5 or so uses. It feels sturdy and is a little on the thick side. I can use a pinch grip comfortably. The base of the blade towards the handle is a tiny bit rough, but that hasn't effected my use yet. I will update this if/when it loses its edge or if anything else happens to it. The knife is terrific. It's sturdy, has a dood strong handle, nice edge, very sharp, comfortable to use and cuts great. I was so happy to have a cost affective butchers knife. Now I can slice tomatoes, lemons, garlic and carrots with ease.

Great value for the money. Sharp knife and the handle has some weight to it. It’s a bit better than my knife from cuisinart which is more expensive. I’d buy this again and recommend.

This is a good knife. I had been buying the Amazon Basics colored set. I shake too much to sharpen my own, so I just buy new ones when they get dull. Good size sharp as can be for under $5.00
