I ordered this stand to use with my hefty and large Alienware Area 51M laptop that I use mostly as a desktop replacement. It is docked for use with an external monitor, keyboard and mouse and sits on a side table beside my desk. This adjustable angle riser stand works (with an easy modification...see below) to raise my laptop up off the table surface which helps to improve laptop airflow and make it more easily accessible if I need to use it directly. The modification I had to make for the Alienware Area 51M: The stand top is rounded at the back which makes it not quite long enough for the back laptop riser legs to fit on the stand. This is bad because the laptop will sit flush with the stand and not get adequate ventilation. To fix this, you can switch the top around so that the front and backed are swapped. It's easy to do since there are only 4 thumbscrews and the stand is just as sturdy with the top change. With the top flipped, the back of the laptop rests on the raised lip with the riser legs catching on this lip which works great to elevate for better ventilation and keep the laptop from sliding forward. Not sure my explanation makes complete sense. I also added pics showing how I'm using it with a close-up of how the Area 51M bottom rests on the stand with flipped top. Easy to assemble... slide each leg into stand base and secure with provided thumb screws (2 per leg). It's a very sturdy stand and has no issue supporting the weight and large dimensions of the 17" Area 51M. I did deduct a star because I would like for the stand to have more ventilation holes. As currently designed, it has them in the center area but really would like to see those holes cover more area. ... show more

This is exactly what I needed and very affordable. However, it does lack versatility for positioning the angle of your laptop and there is no height adjustment. Fortunately, the height and angle are exactly where I need it. There is some assembly required but it's fairly easy and straightforward. It's a pretty sturdy stand and the rubber feet ensure it stays put on your desk. Lots of ventilation holes on the surface to ensure there's decent airflow for the cooling fan on your laptop. I wanted to get my wife a stand so that she can put her monitor a little bit higher as well as place the laptop underneath. It works as intended and we were fairly impressed. I would be careful, as a very heavy monitor might have the chance to make the legs slide and therefore your monitor may fall. For a lightweight 32 inch monitor and the laptop sitting underneath, it got the job done. ... show more

Like most people I have a laptop but never get to use it comfortably. I will talk myself out of even using it for that main reason. So I ordered this to try this style out and make my experience more ergonomic. Upon receiving this item I was pleased to see it was built solid and even looked nice. Its perforated holes allow my laptop plenty of air flow and it actually gets less warm on the stand versus on the table. I would have preferred a way to lock the stand in place but I haven't had it slide or move yet. Also I'd rather there be rubber feet in place of the plastic feet. All in all I would still recommend this to anyone wanting to try a new way of viewing and using a laptop or monitor. ... show more

Utilitarian with powder coated metal platform, that may be harbsh to the bottom of devices placed upon it. Limited as a laptop riser as it can put keyboard at uncomfortable height when used at tables and desks of typical height. but if you need the extra height, this is a modestly priced item to accomplish the task. ... show more

This is nice laptop riser. My daughter uses it for hep Dell 15.6" laptop that she keeps on the coffee table next to her sofa. The riser is sturdy and allows for airflow underneath. The ability to tilt and change the angle of the riser is a nice feature when you are using it with a laptop. The only feature that I hadn't thought about was the ability to pivot. I had a different stand but it was metal and it was scratching my desk despite rubber circles underneath it. This one from Amazon basics is so much better. The plastic feet covers all the metal in the feet. It’s easy to assemble and use. It doesn’t collapse if bumped into. And it looks good to boot. $26.99 is a good price for it, I’m keeping it, using it, and I recommend it. ... show more
