No tools needed for assembly. Matter of fact, you don't need the directions either. So simple to assemble, you can probably do it with your eyes closed. 1-2-3. It took me about a minute and a half to assemble and it is extremely sturdy.

One of the plastic end caps was installed backwards and I had to pry it out and turn it around to assemble the thing. But otherwise pretty decent - not too heavy, easy to assemble, not too expensive. Could do worse.
