If I could, I would give this wheelchair 4 1/2 stars. A few years ago when my father became bedridden, I bought a Medline transport wheelchair for him, but I never needed to push him far in it--it was just to get him to doctor appointments. Now I am caring for my mother and have been trying to take her on long walks, but pushing the Medline was very uncomfortable for me because I am short and the handles were way too high and in a strange position, jutting out toward me, so that my wrists had to be weirdly bent while pushing. My hands would fall asleep and my wrists would ache after only a quarter mile. I began looking for a wheelchair with a lower handle and found one similar to this one, with a much shorter handle that is placed horizontally in front of me for a much more natural placement of my hands, and is a little cheaper. But when it arrived, I found the brakes would not lock; I even had my tall, young, and strong nephew try to pull the bars together, but he couldn't lock them. I returned it and waited for a replacement, but the replacement was the same. So finally I ordered this one, very similar but a different brand, and the brakes lock perfectly! It is true that this wheelchair is not ideal for larger people. My mom is 4'9" and I am 4'10", and it is perfect for us. She is comfortable in it for the most part, and I am comfortable pushing it for as long as I want, even a couple of miles. It was also easy and fast to unpackage with very little needed to get it ready for her. It folds easily and when unfolded locks in place with red plastic tabs (wish the were metal but have worked fine so far--just be careful to remember to unlock them before trying to fold it up.) I wish I could change a couple of things. The padding on the back of the chair needs to be a little thicker because when the brakes are not locked, the bar that is released presses into my mom's back just enough to make her uncomfortable. I place a thin seat pad behind her back and that's enough, but I wouldn't need to if the padding were better. Second, the wheels are not big enough to roll smoothly over little bumps. Walking her on the sidewalks startles her every time we go over a little uneven section of the concrete. The footrest really is up a little too high even for her (as other reviewers have said). And lastly, the seatbelt is a little too big for her even at the tightest: if you make a wheelchair for very small people, make every part of it for small people! If the wheels were a little bigger, the seatbelt able to be tightened more, the footrest just a bit lower, and the padding a little thicker in the back, it would be a 5-star chair for us.

2 screws were in the box that had fallen out of chair during shipping. I replaced but the continues to fall out. Poor design or faulty production. I finally decided to return the item instead of continuing to try and repair a manufacturing. Issue.

Because I often need to take a family member who uses a wheelchair out for rehab training, the old wheelchair we bought was too big. Every time I put it in the car, I had to fold down the back seats to fit it in the trunk. This wheelchair perfectly solved our problem. After my family member moves from the wheelchair to the front passenger seat, I can fold it up very easily and put it in the trunk or the back seat. It takes up very little space. When folded, it looks almost like a small grocery cart. Overall, it’s really great. With this one, we no longer need the old heavy, bulky wheelchair.

Agree w/ other customers that the weight rating on the chair is incorrect. It is a great chair for a light weight person, but not for a 170lb adult. Hard to push, chair keeps on wanting to tip over at every crack in the sidewalk and parking lot. And there is no stabilizing bar. It does fit through the middle isle in planes. If you have ever used an airline middle isle chair, you know how awful they are, so this is a step better. But definitely not for use on side walk type surface or for heavy people.

Excellent build quality, and made with high caliber components. Super fast and easy to assemble. Easy maneuverability over uneven terrain, while providing a smooth, comfortable ride. This was surprisingly lightweight, that even this disabled, little, old lady with arthritis easily and quickly folds and unfolds, stows in my car, etc. Worth every penny. We donated one of the wheelchairs when our family member became ambulatory again, but we decided to keep this one as a JIC. Came with a sturdy protective, zippered bag, too, for storage.
