  • Powerful, Bright. Tool kit must have. Fiber adaptor is the best part.
Be advised. This is likely to damage your retina. ! Buy a pouch immediately as it comes with extras to make connections. I used a Klien padded, zippered, camo pouch previously ordered off Amazon. Perfect fit. Not so sure about this unit's ability to identify faults. It's so bright it would blast past breaks in fiber. I think it's best use would be to ID single lines. A continuity tester of sorts. I used it to ID circuits from MDF to multiple IDFs. Worked great! Couldn't believe how bright it was. ... show more

  • Bought it to test a broken line about a 1/3 mile away.
Bought it to test a broken line about a 1/3 mile away and turns out the switchport was bad. Saved me about 500$ for some to come out and test it.

  • Very Handy for tracing out fibers
The only reason I gave four stars was because it came with an awesome lc adapter, but there is no storage for it. It is a very small item and I fear losing it when I need it most. I am thinking a small elastic pouch on the holder would work great. Other than that I have had zero problems.

This little gem is a must! I work in the NOC world and deal with ISP & OSP issues alot. I can can shoot red light over very long distances. Works alot better than much more expensive models. I have the 30km model and you can see the light through the sheath of most SM fiber jumpers as well as the tip protectors. Except black or dark protectors or sheaths. This VFL is extremely bright. The user can plug it into a fiber and shine red light on the wall across the room from the other end. It will shoot red light right through a broken fiber or out any microbend. It lights up white or clear plastic caps. If the user is trying to locate a break a big attenuator might be helpful to lessen the intensity. It is considerably more powerful than most of the vfls that I have used.
