This is the best sounding 5 watt speaker I've ever heard, it's full sounding with basically any music I wanna play. It's not chest thumping bass, but it sounds clean and full. Compared to a JBL Go 4, this Altec is a clear winner for low end punch, it doesn't attack you with mids and highs like the Go 4. This is a great personal listening speaker, the go 4 is like an expensive super mini PA. I take this to the gym with me, to have some music in the shower. (TMI? Too bad. LOL) It works as it should, connects to my phone immediately when I turn it on, is loud enough to hear but not so loud as to disturb other patrons, sounds good, and most importantly, is water-proof enough to be splashed. The battery lasts quite a while under my use. The "volume" buttons can also be used to skip tracks (quick press adjusts volume, long press skips tracks). Setup was a breeze; the first power-on puts it in pairing mode, and you just have to find it on your phone/device. I understand that if you have two, they'll each take a stereo channel so you have 'left' and 'right' speakers, but I have not tested this. And it was relatively inexpensive. I'd buy again when this one wears out -- or maybe to test the stereo thing. ... show more

Excellent little speaker! I bought it to use when I'm in the shower, and just to have one to carry on more danger filled adventures, if needed. I love the color and shape, has great sound quality and connection range! It stayed connected in the shower while my phone stayed safely plugged in on my nightstand. It's a great little hand-full size. Idk why people complain about the magnetic strength on here, i think it was just strong enough. I don't want to have to fight to get it off! Its covered in a really nice feeling rubbery exterior that seem like it would make it bouncy and durable. It also has a mount included, which I feel gives it even greater range of functionality. I even love it's original packaging. Over all, for the price, it really was a steal! I might get another in the more bright color scheme. Could make a really nice gift without breaking the bank. If I have any issues later, I'll return to update. For now, though, I really couldn't be happier. At the time of writing this, I had it in the bathroom while showering and getting ready for bed, cleaning up my room, starting some laundry and settling in. It's been going for about 5 hours while traveling multiple rooms away from my phone with no interruption. It doesn't even seem close to dying. I love this speaker. It's not hi fi, but surprisingly good sound and bass response for a speaker the size of a tape measure. My brother brought his on his visit and ended up buying me one. I decided to buy this second one for true stereo pairing. That's where my experience goes south. I've followed their directions, but nothing will make the green lights solid indicating they are both paired. They just flash green until they go back to blue. The product support page on the Altec Lansing site says "Site Currently Unavailable." Not cool. Anyone else had success getting two to pair? ... show more

Bought for golf in the middle of last season. Initially it had good sound and no issues with the battery. This season after a total of about 12 uses, the volume doesn’t go half as loud as it used to and the battery doesn’t last a whole round of golf.

The sound and bass is great, but after an hour of continuous play, the battery went from 100% to 20%, and the sound becomes awful. Also, while playing, the speaker kept moving/sliding off of the metal surface it was placed on (a forklift).

I'm still obsessed with there Mini one after 6yrs. But got this one so I could put it on my bike and hubby can hear it better when we ride and magnet it to our smith machine when working out. I do wish they had a clip on bitty speaker for running 🏃♀️ that was smaller than the mini so i can clip it on my running vest/hiking like a walkie talkie ... show more

Bought these as replacement for my Hydra mini could never get my hydro mini to successfully stay connected in tws they would end up with a bad echo because they wouldn't stay in sync or they would just unpair from each other and I'm taking them back to the store several times and then the fourth time I decided to see if I could find a firmware update no such luck they were a complete mess but the hydrotrek stay connected ntws mode and they stayed sync so they're perfect they're a lot more powerful more Bass clean clear audio they sound a lot more Fuller than not hydro mini and they have some big bass radiators on the back also I love the bike mounts I'm sure I'll use those in the future and the magnets you can stick them on the fridge or are pretty much anything that's magnetic or a piece of metal which is great and I love the stereo separation it's nice to be able to experience it for the first time because unfortunately I wasn't able to enjoy it because the hydro minis tws mode was complete garbage and didn't work well at all and had a bad echo hopefully they fix that on the new hydro mini but I don't see the point in getting that since these have big bass radiators and perform a lot better than the hydro minis I had before. ... show more
