  • Speakers
Fit 13 F150 just fine. They sound good over all. To me it isn’t much better than the factory ones when using your factory radio. It may sound better if you had an amplifier feeding them. They may sound much better. Value for the price ~ to me a bit much.

  • High Quality, Mid Price
I've had these installed for about 2 weeks. They replaced Morel 5x7 that ended up with 3 tears in the surround after being installed for 2 months. So far I'm impressed with performance of these speakers. I'm pushing them with an NVX JAD800.4 rated at 125w per channel. I should also add that my system is set up for sound quality and not pure power. My amp is set up properly with an SMD distortion detector, so I make sure it's nothing but clean power being delivered to these speakers. Listening preference is classic rock, alternative and metal. Mid bass is excellent. They handle the lower bass fairly well. They get a little muddy at higher power, but I'm hoping that gets better as they break in more. The tweeters seem a little bright for my taste, but I'm able to adjust those from my head unit. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the sound quality and power handling of these speakers. I'm planning on transferring these to the back seat and switching to components for my front stage. I've had JBL, Rockford Fosgate, and Morels in my front doors. The Morels sounded the smoothest, but their build quality sucks. One just stopped working for no reason and the other one tore at the surround. If you want the best quality at a mid quality price, these are the speakers for you. Update- I'm more than impressed with the sound quality of these Alpines! They are handling all the power I can throw at them! After the initial break in period, I can honestly say worth every penny! Quit searching, get these speakers, put some power behind them and enjoy! ... show more

  • Not enough mid-range, but great speaker
I have a 10" sub in my Ford truck and I needed to replace the old 5x8" speakers to round out the sound. These are great for the higher frequency ranges. They sound good and will get loud if I want them to. However, I was hoping for more from the mid-range. They're only 5x8 speakers, so I was probably asking too much. I'll have to look elsewhere to fill out the mid-range. That said, I recommend these speakers. Great quality for the price. ... show more

  • 2011 Ford F-150 FX4
I love car audio, and was so disappointed with the stock speakers in my F-150 FX4 Supercrew Cab, (they were made of cheap paper and were horrible even for stock speakers). So I began researching every speaker out there. I ended up buying the Rockford fosgate 6x8 speakers for my back doors and for $50 they are a nice deal for a better than average budget speaker. But enough of the Rockford's, these alpines rock. I've been enormously happy with their sound reproduction. I installed them easily in my front doors and like the Rockford's in the back they are unamplified. These alpines can get very loud and not lose any clarity. They maintain a well balanced sound too, that sounded great playing all genres of music, though I do boost the bass which for unamplified speakers running off a stock head unit is nothing short of Amazing. The bass is easily my favorite aspect of these speakers, it's very clear and gives good vibrations and I can't wait to see how they sound when I do amplify them in the future. The sound of the Alpines are far superior to the Rockford's, which is expected I suppose for the price difference of $40, but it makes me wish I had dished out the extra $40 for these in my back doors as well. I'll update this when I amp them or should anything change. (if anyone recommends an amp for these that would be great too). ... show more

  • Great speaker, a true bang for your buck!
As with almost all car audio, you get what you pay for. In the case of Alpine Type R speakers, you really cant go wrong, I absolutely love the range that these speaker produce. Crisp highs, excellent midrange and good lows. Now these are installed in a 2009 ford super duty with the factory radio and sync system (which as soon as the new radio gets here it will be powered by a Kenwood DNX773S and will sound even better) and they far exceed the stock paper cone speakers. Now keep in mind that with any quality audio speakers it is all about the details to ensure that you get the cleanest sound possible and there are certain things that need to happen to take full advantage of the sound. They are sound deadening and noise and vibration control. So get yourself some alpine Type-R speakers and truly enjoy your factory Sync system or upgrade your radio for the ultimate in sound and rock out to your Bryan Adams summer of 69 sounds. I can not speak to the abilities of these speaker in regards to Hip hop or rap, as I don't listen to that stuff, but county and classic rock/metal they sound great! ... show more

  • Poor quality
The passenger side tweeter went out in about 1 month of use. driver side soon followed in next moths. In all not worth the 100+ dollars price. Bass is decent.

  • Awesome speakers, clear highs without sounding harsh
I previously had Infinity Kappa speakers which were really nice but with certain songs they sounded harsh. I have 180 W RMS running to each speaker so I took a gamble on guessing that it was the actual quality of the speakers and not just that they weren't getting enough power. I bought these and they sound significantly better. The highs aren't harsh and they sound really clear. I think this is largely due to the silk dome tweeter, which I think is the way to go over metal tweeters. The mids also sound really good, very clear with no distortion. As for the lows I don't really know or care because I have a subwoofer and thus turn the bass way down on them. I have no experience with them not hooked up to an amp so I couldn't tell you how they perform without one. Great speakers, significant upgrade from the Infinity Kappa 6x8s. ... show more
