  • Great amp but not for beginners
This amp is extraordinary! So much so I bought another one. The amp is not for beginners! The amp has a protection mode on it which shuts the amp off when it detects distortion. This means you need to tune your system. Many beginners think that a system is just plug and play and turn everything to the max (This amp protects you from yourself). This amp due to the protection mode (it protects your speakers from being blown by distortion) requires proper tuning. Below is the proper way to tune a system. If you don't have a distortion meter and don't want to buy one, your local sound shop should be able to help you for a small fee. The most common reason this happens to beginners is they think the gain is a volume knob. The amp should be tuned with a distortion meter or at the very least a multi-meter. First you should start with your head unit and find the max volume before distortion is introduced. That will give you your max volume on your head unit. So if distortion is introduced at a volume of 59 your max volume will be 58. Once that is set then leave the head unit at max volume (in this example 58) and put the distortion meter on your amp. Start with the gain all the way down and start turning it up slowly until you see the meter indicate distortion. Turn it back down slowly until the distortion light goes off. Remember the gain is not a volume knob. Once you have found these two levels on your head unit and amp you are ready to go. Also make sure you have your subs wired to the correct Ohm load for the amp. ... show more

  • Amazing SQ and power for little amp.
Mine is running a high end Focal K2 KX30 12" subwoofer box and it has no problems whatsoever keeping up and providing plenty of power and headroom.
