    • OK, it makes fog...
It's a fogger and it does create fog. What's not to like? Well, as far as its use as a fogger goes, two things. One is that the directions say not to use it for more than 8 hours continuously. The other, and to me more important, is that it uses a large wall wart that gets pretty dang hot. It does produce a lot of fog. Bunches of fog. It operates almost silently with the only noise being bits of splashing sounds. For most people, this is exactly what they want. Most people probably don't want the option to run the fogger 24/7 either. I'm not one of those people. I wanted to see if this fogger could turbocharge my evaporative cooler. It doesn't quite fit that use due to the hot wall wart and limited run time. Also, the principal of operation seems to be that it flash heats a tiny bit of water to steam creating a jet effect that atomizes some of the other water. I think this principal of operation is beautiful and elegant if all you want is fog. However, I don't want fog as much as I want the cooling effect of that fog evaporating into the ambient air. Anyways, even though this device didn't meet my needs I did review it based on its intended use. The hot wall wart and limited continuous run time each took away a star. ... show more

    • Excellent Solution for Wine Cellar Humidification.
I needed to raise the humidity in our wine cellar without defeating the natural cooling system by adding heat from a traditional humidifier. I started with one fogger but the single unit I purchased was not capable of raising the humidity to the required level in a 8’x10’x8’ vault so I added a second unit. Two foggers were the perfect solution - I did connect them to a humidity controller to turn them on and off within a tolerance of 5% of the desired set-point. The fog produced almost looks like a boiling cauldron adding somewhat of a mystical look to the fountains pool. The foggers have been in use for over 30 days now with excellent results. On the negative side – they do splash or condense on anything close to the unit so I added the splashguard accessory and also put the fountain on a cookie tray with a towel between the decorative fountain and the tray to catch any fast condensing droplets. ... show more

    • These little things are great!
I have 3 outdoor fountains around my house and I've fallen in love with using these little foggers in them. They are easy to use, they put out an impressive amount of fog, and they last a surprisingly long time. This is the 4th Alpine fogger I've bought in the past three years, 1 of the older units worked for two years before it pooped out and the other two worked for over a year. Each of those units was used in an outdoor fountain where the water is not always spotlessly clean. I'd have to wipe the little disk clean occasionally with a cloth or q-tip, but that was about it maintenance-wise. These are great and they really do put out a lot of fog. You can have that awesome dry-ice effect nightly without having to do much, just plug it into a timer and add water when it gets too low and stops putting out fog.     • Larger than expected
This thing works amazingly. That's all I can say, it does exactly what it says it will. It will create fog at a depth of about 5-6 inches, which allows for a fairly large reservoir that won't quickly run dry. It does spit a little bit in addition to the fog so you need something that's at least 8 inches wide to catch the drops. A great product, well constructed. The main body seems to be stainless steel with a rubberized handle and cord. The weight in the shipping details seems about accurate. Nice long cord between the unit and the coupler for the power converter so there's no worry about it getting in the water. I haven't tried it on a large pond, however I'm assuming that as long as it's no deeper than about 4-5 inches you could get a decent amount of fog going over the top of anything you would have at your home. I built a humidifier for my huge humidor using a 6" deep full size restaurant pan and lid. It utilizes three 4" fans and a this ultrasonic fogger inside. After the fogger there is a metal mesh baffle that collects the fog. The air passing through the saturated metal mesh baffle picks up moisture and is exhausted into the humidor. Unfortunately this product did not work for me, it ceased making fog very quickly no matter what I tried. I contacted Amazon and the seller immediately got back to me. He was courteous and didn't hesitate for a second in telling me to keep the item and he put a refund in hand immediately. I would order from this company again. ... show more

    • Corrodes over time
Ordered this in April 2014. In December 2015 I noticed the housing is badly corroded. The body is just painted with silver paint. Underneath it's made of bronze or pot-metal which corrodes eventually and makes the silver paint peel off. It doesn't look safe to me, so I'm throwing it away & I'll order a replacement from a different manufacturer. An item intended to be kept submerged for the duration of its life SHOULD be made of materials which are water resistant. This one isn't. ... show more

Operates perfectly in a 'fogponic' project. Mind your water level for max fog. In smaller areas of water, watch the resulting temp. Quite happy. I plan to get more for future projects.
