  • Quality and Powerful pump at a reasonable price.
Style: 6550 GPH
I have purchased my first pump approximately 5 years ago and it ran 24/7 including hurricanes with no issues until the pump finally stopped working. I purchase a second one which ran only for a couple of months and and I contacted customer service at Alpine and they immediately got back in touch with me via email. They were completely helpful and help solve my problem. They sent me a new pump after explaining to them the issue that I was having. I only had to pay shipping and handling. I also found after the original emails that were sent to me on how to maintain the pump to increase lifespan, I was actually able to get my original pump back up and running. The customer service was outstanding and the product arrived in just a couple of days. I would definitely recommend this pump especially due to the type of fittings that it has on the intake and the output side bolt which are able to accept PVC fittings. This makes it so that I could use it for multiple different types of applications especially by putting different types of fittings on the end of the PVC pipe so that I can either create a wide Fountain effect or a 20 ft High geyser. Just add some color for lights to it and you got a resort in your backyard. ... show more

  • Very powerful
Style: 6550 GPH
After more than a year of using this pump, I'm changing my opinion and upping my rating to 5 stars. Not only does it continue to be the most powerful of any pump I have used, some have had higher flow ratings, this pump has lived through what should have caused death a number of times. We have a leak somewhere, and there have been times where this hasn't had enough water to pump, which also means that the motor doesn't have water covering it. For many pumps this means death if not powered off or remedied. I have also come to appreciate that this pump is probably the quietest I have used. It's a minor thing as there are two waterfalls and a river in my setup, but for others it may matter. I haven't measured it's energy usage yet, but I am willing to forgive that it *might* use a little more power than other pumps given it's performance and resilience. It is by far the best pump I have used up to this point, and intend to replace it with the same unit should it fail. This is a very powerful pump. It seems extremely well built so far, and I really like that it has a threaded input. Very useful for using the pump as a vacuum to remove junk from the bottom of pond without draining it. I wish it was a little more energy efficient. It seems on the high side (at least the ratings), compared to pumps of similar capacity. I've gone through 4 different pumps on this pond, and this one moves the most water at the best price, and again, also has the best build quality. ... show more

  • FANTASTIC VALUE - replaced a 2X more expensive pump!
Style: 6550 GPH
My day 1 review is 5 stars - the value is amazing! I would have bought to PAL8000 for only $15 more, but the 6550 was available with next-day prime shipping. It replaced a Tsurumi 50PU2.4S in a pond+waterfall system with ~10' of head. The curves of both pumps show about 4000 GPH at 10`, but you can understand my skepticism that this pump is smaller, lighter (15 vs 20 lbs), consumes about 2/3 the power (450 watt vs 740 watt), and is LESS THAN HALF the price! I also looked at various other brands at a water feature website called true pump, and every comparable pump was in the ~$600 price range. The short answer is -- I'm blown away. I can't really tell a difference in my water flow - it may be a titch less. I'm so happy with this pump. Now I just hope it last a long time, but the 3-year warranty is encouraging. It arrived, looked great, and installed easy (I had to cut the outflow pipe as this outlet sits about 3" higher than the Tsurumi.) My only nit is that the blue filter falls off easily, it's merely a friction fit. But it could be easily zip-tied on, or if using vertical, the pump weight will hold it on. If it turns out the quality isn't great, I'll update this review. ... show more

  • Great pump!!
Style: 6550 GPH
My 6,500 GPH Pump has ran non stop for 3 years and then one day I noticed the water fall wasn’t running so I pulled the pump out of my helix pond skimmer and it was Frozen and VERY HOT. I took it completely apart and their was pieces of the magnets inside of it. The brushless motor messed up somehow. But I cleaned everything up very good like I always do every fall and spring and I have to tap on it very hard to get it to come on. Then it works great. Weird I know. Lol. ... show more

  • Excellent Value
Style: 6550 GPH
Excellent pump and GPH for the money. I needed to replace a 5 year old Little Giant WPG-65-PW fountain pump that had developed a ground fault problem. The 5 year old pump replaced another Little Giant pump that also failed after 5 years. These were both well beyond the warranty, so I can't complain. However, I don't enjoy tearing apart the fountain installation to replace pumps and didn't want to do so in another 5 years. I was also looking for increased capacity. The Cyclone Pump seemed to have more than 3 times (6550 GPH) the capacity for a reasonable increase in price, It also seemed to have good ratings. Another great feature found when researching Cyclone Pumps was an estimated cost to run per hour. I did recognize that moving to a different pump or pump model might required different connection or adapting my existing setup. I could use this as an opportunity to simplify the installation. When received, I was also very pleased to see that the Cyclone Pump has a few parts (such as the Impeller) that can be replaced by the owner. There were also additional output adapters to help setup. The pump can be run "out of the water" if you connect an intake water line to an intake connection. This gives you a lot of installation flexibility. However, it must not be run dry without water in the intake line. During installation, I added a mesh pump bag to help keep debris away from the dark blue pre-filter cage. When I first turned it on, the 3x volume of water was more than I expected or my fountain could handle. I added a valve to reduce the flow from the pump. I'm really enjoying the extra capacity, power of the pump and the efficiency. I do hope it has the quality to last at least as long as the Little Giants. At this time after installation and a month of running, the Cyclone Pump has my strong recommendation. ... show more

  • Its ok
Style: 6550 GPH
This replaced a little giant pump that was 3800gph. I was really hoping for a little bit more water flow considering it is rated at twice that of my previous pump, but in reality it actually moves a little less. My set up is with a 5' rise and 50' run and I get a satisfactory waterfall out of it. If you have the extra $15 get the 8000gph model. You'll be thankful you did. ... show more

  • ALPINE PUMPS are great people
Style: 6550 GPH
I bought a PAL6550 CYCLONE POND PUMP. Worked super the first summer of 2018. Winterized it and set it up Spring of 2019. It ran for awhile and the impeller gave out. Called ALPINE and they sent one right away. Super service! Set it up again in Spring 2020. Again had to call for an impeller. No problem, was sent right away. For some reason it didn’t fit in the housing. Called for help and they told me to try this and that. Nothing worked. So I called them back. So, lo and behold, THEY SENT ME A BRAND NEW PUMP. Very responsible company. Just super people. I checked and they had revised the copper on the impeller. That made it just a mite larger to fit into the old pump housing. I was SOOO tickeled about the new pump and how I was treated. When this one wears out, I’ll remember ALINE. Thanks ALPINE, I’LL Pete in East Wenatchee. ... show more

These are a very good and durable pump. I leave it on 24/7 in my pond. The punps have lasted 4-5 years of continuous use.
