    • Pretty easy to adjust, would be easier with an app
There are pros and cons of having an app to control the hearing aids. The pros are that you get visual confirmation of volume and setting. These do not connect to an app, but they do give you an audio beep for each level of volume, and a double beep when you are at the lowest or the loudest. There appear to be five levels of volume. The noise reduction levels are set up when you press and hold the volume down button, when you release it you will hear 1 - 4 beeps, telling you which of the four you are in. I'm still playing with that, currently trying the outdoor setting. I think for driving though the best is the restaurant setting. It does not have a car setting, and a car is where I have the most problem hearing, with a noisy restaurant being close second. I would have probably given them 5 stars if they had an automobile setting, and or an app to vary the settings while you are driving. You could have a passenger do it on your phone while you are driving. With the on ear controls that is not safely possible. Overall, I recommend them, I do think they are a bit pricey, but the sound is pretty clear and the noise reduction works fairly well also. ... show more

I gave these a good try out, but the sizes offered did not fit me. I found that the ear piece was too small to stay in my ear canal. As a result, they would work great and then break out into feedback as the piece worked itself out. I'm quite confident that if they had one size larger that it would work very well, but they do not. As a result I find I cannot use them. It's a pity because while they work, they are good. I just can't handle loud feedback randomly thrown at me as it is. ... show more

These hearing aids have made a big difference for my grandmother. The sound quality is pretty good - she's catching conversations she used to miss. Battery life is solid, lasting through the day without issues. The charging case is handy, though a bit bulky for her purse. Setup was easier than we expected. The different modes come in handy, especially in noisy places like restaurants. Grandma struggled with the buttons at first but she's getting used to them. She finds them comfortable enough to wear all day. There's occasional feedback when she adjusts them, which is annoying. Also, the app can be a bit tricky sometimes. But overall, these have really improved her daily life. They're a good option if you want to help a loved one hear better without spending a fortune. ... show more

I really like these hearing aids. The sound quality is excellent, and they're very comfortable to wear. I like that they have different modes for different environments, and the noise cancellation is very effective. The battery life is also great - I can wear them all day without having to worry about them running out of power. The charging case is a bit bulky, but it's not a big deal.     • Take the Time to Adjust to Them
I am aware that I have some hearing loss, but I have never tried hearing aids before this pair. These are my observations regarding the ELEHEAR Alpha Smart OTC Hearing Aids. If you are new to hearing aids, please examine everything in the box and read through the Quick Start manual and User Manual completely at least once before attempting anything else. The charging case makes it easy to keep them charged, and they remain charged for quite a long time. I don't actually know how long they will hold a charge because I've been charging them every night, and they have never run low on power. Fully charged, the charging case is supposed to be able to recharge the hearing aids 6 to 7 times before it needs to be recharged. I found it easy to mount the Ear Caps on to the Hearing Aids, and had no problem putting the units in place in and around my ears. They are comfortable to wear. I started with one hour, and increased to two in the first week. Gradually now I'm up to wearing them as long as four hours daily. It took a little bit of practice to learn how to control the volume and the feedback, and to get my OWN voice to sound normal when I wear them. The User Manual explains how to raise and lower volume. Each ear is individually controlled by the up/down volume control on the unit itself. There are also 4 modes which are controlled by the Down Volume Button ( General - Restaurant - Outdoor- TV) The hearing aids turn ON automatically when they are removed from the charging case, and turn OFF when they are returned to the case. If you accidentally turn them off while adjusting volume and modes (I did) , you can manually turn them on by pressing and holding the Volume UP button for 3 seconds. I found the sound quality and clarity to be good, that is after I learned how to get rid of most feedback noise. I do not know how the Over-The-Counter Hearing aids compare with the traditional ones sold by an audiologist. These are helpful and adequate for someone like me with mild to moderate hearing loss. My friends who have hearing aids designed specifically for them speak about adjusting "frequencies" and "channels" , so I have no doubt that persons with more profound hearing loss require a professional to find their best fit. But for me, these work just fine, and are most useful when watching TV, or when in conversation with a small group of about six people. ... show more
