I will start by saying I recieved this unit to replace a mold filled Aprilaire crawlspace unit that was 5 years old (twice the price BTW, it was a month past warranty and they denied me replacement for the mold issue). It had a cheap foam filter that was worthless and even following the filter maintenance schedule the condenser was covered in mold and since there was so way to clean it I had tp replace it. I gave this Alorair brand a try and with a few small modifications for my installation its been working excellent, very quiet too in my opinion (compared the the aprilaire unit we had). Comparative to our dryer. When I originally purchased this unit there was damage during shipping...I did my best to try and repair the bent side panel and cracked plastic duct inlet. It ran for about a week and then the compressor leaked oil causing the unit to no longer function. I reached out to customer care and they were very helpful in providing help for its return under warranty. Please save your box lol. I had to make my own best I could because I threw away the original. Its 90+ lbs and can be difficult to maneuver. All said the process was a little slow but I delayed the return a week by thinking they were sending a new one so I could return the old one in it. Keep your box! It took roughly 3 weeks minus my week of delay. The new one arrived in a wood crate (original was in cardboard). The unit was perfect. I modified it slightly for my application. The original unit sat in our 1930's crawlspace and since it was a pain in @!! to access for maintenance I moved it onto the first floor in our laundry room. I ducted the intake and supply to opposite sides of the house for optimal airflow. 10" flex aluminum duct ran through the crawlspace. I used 10" duct flanges also found on Amazon to mount to the floor. Even though the Alorair has a MUCH better HVAC type filter I added an additional 10" prefilter (AC Infinity Brand) for super filtration as I want this unit to last as long as possible. Maintenance for the Alorair calls for an annual coil cleaning and twice year filter inspection. Since its quite heavy make sure its accessible to remove it for maintenance. You dont want to drag it through a confined space! Due to my application I modified a couple things. First I used magnetic sheet to cover the filter doors (I wanted a better seal than the steel doors that came on it. The magnet cover seals tightly to the sheet metal and is simple to remove. I didnt use the 4" fresh air intake so I removed that and its wire connector and covered that hold with the magnet sheet also. I removed the 10" plastic intake and added a perimeter of narrow window foam to better seal it to the sheet metal as well. These mods are not necessary. Finally after installing the unit and running it I found it wanted to short cycle due to my ducted insulation (the water in the condenser tray would increase the humidity inside the unit where the humidity sensor is located and prematurely cycle on the unit then it would run only for a short time and shut off) so I moved the humidity sensor from inside the unit out along the path of the drain pipe down into the hole in the floor for the drain tubing. The sensor is now sensing the crawlspace humidity level not inside the unit. This easy solution resolved the short cycle issue and there was plenty of extra wire length on the sensor to move it externally. It has been running for a month and a half. I live in GA and its a must for summertime comfort and from keeping your wood framing from rotting out. Controls are simple to use and I suspect it should last longer than the last. Just remember to keep it maintained.

unit was installed for less than 2 months and it stopped working. Keep in mind this is a heavy unit. If your unit stops working, customer service will tell you to send it back to them. They will tell you to put it back in its original box and bring it to the carrier and once they receive it- they will ship a new one. Before this, we reached out about the product no longer working. We exchanged emails for about 8 days before creating a ticket. They asked different things to do and to send pictures. We obliged. Then after two weeks of back and forth, they finally send an email stating the new dehumidifier has been shipped. It has now been a month and still no replacement. We live in the south, we cannot have a dehumidifier down for this long. All together right now , we have been out of a dehumidifier for 1.5 months. Still waiting on the replacement. If you have allergies or young ones - consider the customer service experience I went through. These machines are expensive. Being a woman, I cannot do all this by myself. It’s heavy. So to be asked to repackage and load it into a vehicle, drive it to a carrier and drop it off- that’s rough.

This is awesome, so far. I’ve installed the WHD 200 in my 3200 sq ft shop. Installation and set up are super easy, this was new construction It is very quiet, even in this empty building it’s whisper quiet. I find the control panel a bit confusing to operate and the instructions aren’t a great help, I’ll figure it out. I live in SW Michigan where it never gets super hot but hell the humidity would choke a fish. Summer is coming, let’s put it to the test. I’ll update in October.

So far so good! Been using it more than a week in a 1660 sq ft tightly sealed home with builder grade return air amounts. Used the suggested/standard method of connecting it to hvac. It's quiet! It's all in the attic space with a proper condensate gravity line ran. The unit helps remove humidity to desired levels during normal ac operation and more importantly when its rainy and muggy out and too cold to run ac. Also ran a fresh air line from the front porch soffit to the unit to bring in fresh dehumidified air to rid of cooking smells as well as freshen things up year round. Highly suggest this unit if you're handy or can have it installed professionally! Update 11 months later: Everything is still excellent. No problems.

No quality control. My unit was dead after less than a month. Had gas leaks. It was a commercial model. No more AlorAir dehumidifiers, I can't risk with the lack of quality equipment that they produce. Read the reviews everywhere. There are so many issues in the 1st few months.
