It's paid for itself already and I've only had it for a few months! I stitched up a buckle, car trunk and a wastebasket very quickly. The staple driver heats fast and you just drive the staple into the middle of the plastic until it cools. Slowly remove the tool and the staple will mend the surface. Use the snips to trim the staple tails and then use a Dremel with a metal grinder wheel to cut/smooth excess material. The wave staples are great to run down the cracks of broken items. Get it and fix soo many things that are made of plastic!

this kit is awesome! I bought it to fix one item and have found myself pulling it out several times for repairs that otherwise wouldn't have been possible. If you have never used a product like this, it takes a little getting used to get a nice finished look. My only complaint is I wish they had put a scored or easily broken staple in. Even with a good pair of side cutters, you still end up with a very small plip.

Fixed my damaged motorcycle faring with this. Pretty much any cracked plastic can be mended with the variety of wire elements. Nice part is that they get hot instantly. I took the advice of one of the reviewers to press the button for a short time and then press it again. By three 3 second clicks, it was in place and I didn't go all the way through the plastic. I've done lots of plastic repairs to electronic items throw out the years using spreader-apart tinned solder wick. This system does a much better job in most cases. I did go back to using the old way once or twice when the break was at an extreme angle.
