  • Great device. Lacks content heavily.
Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Olive Style: Fire HD 10
How am I supposed to use this if the apps of the same brand aren't even supported anymore? Arrived quickly. Was already set up with my account. I had opted in. I paid extra for no ads even tho the ads are smarter and more enjoyable than apple ads. The recommended screen protector is great. Love it for comics and it has a really cool guided reading mode that zooms in on panels. Very customizable interface on how the device works. Very helpful tips and tricks hidden all over. Do wish the guide was more extensive than four little cards. I wonder what other features I'm missing? What's weird is Amazon app doesn't even work on it. Its app store is extremely limited and riddled with fake apps so you will end up getting tricked while trying to find certain apps. Its just so weird how Amazon apps are not supported on a newest model Kindle fire, I have to use the web. it also just gives me blank screens in the alexa app and will not let me connect my spotify account when thats the notifacation i was given. The books stores are all messed up. I get "#39s," instead of an apostrophes. They also don't allow you to add to your list unless you go into the books info and then lose all your progress scrolling. Very nice machine for the sale price, but I would never pay 300$ for what I got unless there were more options of apps. Wish this had more options cause it is a very nice tablet for game, reading, music, and movies. Took about 2 hours to charge but I think that may have been a faulty Amazon block because the block started smoking. Threw away Amazon block and used phone charger. No further issues was done in an hour. Charged in just over an hour. Edit: Amazon had reached out and compensated me for the defected charging brick 2nd Edit: Amazon his fixed the issue with Alexa and Amazon shopping app. Thank you team ... show more

  • OK for some things, but not what I need
Digital Storage Capacity: 32 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Black Style: Fire HD 10
I bought this tablet because I don't have one and the price was great. My wife has an older one and seems to like it quite a bit. The problem is, it really seems to only be good for reading, streaming video or light web surfing. When I read, I like actual, physical books. If I'm watching video, I have a 65" OLED TV with surround sound. Worst case scenario, I have a 14" 2-in-1 laptop I can use. A 10" screen isn't really big enough for video, IMHO. As for web surfing, the only browser available is Silk, which I had never heard of. And while it works on a basic level, it doesn't not provide me with the customization and options I get with other browsers. For example, I can't set it to clear cache upon exit. Nor is there an option for private browsing. Because this device works on a 'forked' version of Android and not a 'skin', the only app store that really works is the Amazon app store, which is sorely lacking in terms of what is available for this device. I couldn't download Firefox, nor any other that I might prefer - not even Chrome. I couldn't download The Weather Channel. It took forever to find my favorite game. I finally had to search by the name of the developer. Those are just a couple of examples, but I literally spent hours trying to figure out a way around that. I'm a former IT guy and things like that drive me nuts. One minor irritant is that I can't choose a version of the keyboard that displays the numbers above the letters. I can do that with my phone. It seems like an odd oversight for Amazon not to include that. So, any time I have to enter a password, I have to shift to the numbers/characters, then shift back. And I have to do that more than once while entering a password. It just takes longer and seems unnecessary. There is one other minor irritant for me, which is shutting down and booting up. You have to hold the power button down for a while, then wait for it to respond. And, while shutting down is pretty quick, booting up takes a bit longer than I would like. I know that's a niggling little thing. but my Windows laptop is quicker and easier (again, IMHO). On the plus side, I was able to download Outlook and Office, as well as a few other minor things. I haven't had time to finish setting up my mailbox in Outlook, so I can't comment on that yet. Neither have I transferred any Office files, so I'll have to reserve comment on that. Nor have I loaded any of my music to it yet. I don't stream, I buy what I want and store it electronically on my own devices. I don't anticipate a problem there, but you never know. I have not purchased a cover for it yet, but I'm looking at one with the built-in keyboard. If I'm working in Outlook or Office, I think that will be helpful. But I don't want anything too bulky, so I'm still mulling that over. I have also not tried connecting it to an external display (such as an overhead projector), so that will be interesting. To be honest, I got so frustrated with it at first, that I just set it aside for awhile and haven't gotten back to doing most of those things. I should note that I purchased it because I thought it would be more compact, lighter, more portable and more convenient than my laptop. And it would be bigger and easier to use than my Android phone for anything other than voice and text. Sort of a bridge between the two. Time will tell. ... show more

  • Great Battery, Great Screen and Fast for a very low Price
Digital Storage Capacity: 32 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Olive Style: Fire HD 10
The price is absolutely the best tablet for the price. It is fast and the Screen resolution is wonderful for viewing movies. With an SD card you will have all the storage you will ever need. The battery on the Amazon tablet seemingly last forever. One of the many pluses. I have an iPad and a Samsung Tablet but I still use the Amazon Tablet the most. My main storage is for books and Audible books, lots of them. No bookcase needed anymore. Amazon does have a few great apps to download like Classic Word, Essential Anatomy, One Drive, IBird Pro... and it is nice to have a direct connection to Amazon Music. The only thing the other tablets have is GPS for navigation maps and astronomy programs for locating stars in the sky. Some day we may get even get access to Google Store. I usually use my Samsung phone when I am traveling in a car or outside looking at stars. Thankfully Amazon made the first reliable tablet that the average person could afford. There Tablets keep getting better. So I am very thank for their tablets. ... show more
