  • I love my Kindle! Update!
Color: Metallic Raspberry Option: With 3 months of Kindle Unlimited
I have had my Kindle for over a month, and I am still excited about this Kindle. However, I just saw that it is on sale (Black Friday Deal), and I wanted to cry. It is now $45 less than what I paid (excluding the cost of the charger and case; add another $60 to that $45 (Ouch!)). Then, I had to have a talk with myself, and it went like this: Trinigal, stop being upset! You are fortunate to have purchased a Kindle that works well, and doesn’t have issues (like others who have shared the dissatisfaction with their Kindle). You are still enjoying your reads and always looking forward to your next read. I then chuckled to myself, and said that the title of the next book I select should be: When is the right time to buy a Kindle? My original review is below: This is my first Kindle, so I don’t have any other Kindle to compare it to. I usually read a physical book, books on my Computer, IPad or iPhone. This Kindle makes a difference in my ability to relax while reading a book. It is an awesome device that is portable, light weight, and convenient. Although I like reading on my IPad, it will no longer be my go to device for reading (When you know better, you do better). My house is full of unread books that I bought over the years, and that really bothers me because I just couldn’t find the time to read (being a professor with lots of other academic books to read, I gave those academic books priority over a good novel). Now, I am at the point where I want to read books for relaxation purposes. I chose the Kindle Paperwhite Signature edition as part of my incentive to read a good book. I researched this Kindle for an entire month before investing in it. Let’s get to the workings of the Kindle: This 7 inch Kindle is easy to hold in my hands. The IPad truly strained my hand when I tried to use only one hand when reading. At times, I had to lean the IPad on my thighs for support. Now, there will be no more hand to thighs when reading! The Kindle set up was very easy, and user friendly. I did not experience any problems connecting to the internet. After set up, with bated breath, I waited to see how the pages turned on the Kindle, and if I will find any fault with the action of turning the pages of the book I was reading. I am happy to say there was none; no noticeable long lag time, no problems were experienced with the turning of pages on this Kindle. Then I squinted my eyes, opened my eyes wide, I turned the Kindle upside down, and side to side while turning to the next page of my book; I was trying to see if there will be any trace of the previous page as I turn to the next page ( ghosting; some users experience an imprint of the former page while moving to the next page of their book). Happy to report, I tried hard to find a problem with that but I found none. What about the battery? The battery charged very quickly, and there was no problem during that process. I did charge the battery with the case on the Kindle, (as the picture shows). The Kindle came with an 80% charge and in 30 minutes (or less) it was fully charged (100%). I am hardly ever swayed by reviews: Sometimes reviews work as an incentive, or a deterrent….I always say, try an item out and make your personal decision. This Kindle is a keeper, and I am also going to purchase the new Color Kindle Colorsoft. Conclusion: This Kindle paper white Signature Edition , Gen 12/32 GB, is truly made for reading. It is certainly a handy device for traveling, and reading on the go. It is easy on the eyes, and therefore, easy on the brain. The raspberry color is really nice, and I plan on buying an extra clear case so that I could easily see the vibrant color of the kindle. I am honestly excited to be part of the Kindle family! ... show more

  • This device is freaking awesome!
Color: Metallic Jade Option: Without Kindle Unlimited
I've had a couple of Kindles since they were first released in 2007 and they just didn't do it for me. They were OK, but once we got tablets and phones with high-DPI displays such as Apple's Retina displays I preferred to read my Kindle books on my phone or tablet because it was one less device to carry. This Kindle changes all of that. It's small and light and fits into a jacket pocket or a large pants pocket. The battery life is phenomenal. I dropped my Kindle behind my bed in early May, three months ago. It was in a place I couldn't reach without moving the bed out from the wall, which is a two man job since I have a king sized bed with a steel frame. Last week I got someone to help me move the bed so I could recover the Kindle. I thought I was going to have to recharge it, but it still had 45 percent charge, this after not being plugged in for three months! Charging via USB C is very quick. I plug it in occasionally to top it off and rarely if ever get a low battery warning. The backlit screen is easy on the eyes, it has a warmer tone than the older Kindles and is very pleasant to use. This is a fantastic e-reader and is worth taking with you even if you have a phone or tablet with the Kindle app. ... show more

  • They keep getting better
Color: Metallic Black Option: Without Kindle Unlimited
I’ve had kindles since the very early days, and while I do still love turning a physical page, nothing comes close to this in terms of usability and convenience. This new kindle is the next generation, and it shows. The adjustable backlight is more useful than I thought it would be, and the fact that you can adjust the warmth of the light is excellent. The clarity of the screen is very impressive, and battery life is unbelievable. It’s the perfect size, much faster to download and search compared to older generations. Considered the version with color, but how often do you actually need color? If you’re on the fence, but read a lot, just get it. ... show more

  • Paperwhite is the best!!!
Color: Metallic Raspberry Option: Without Kindle Unlimited
I have owned a Kindle Keyboard, a Voyage, and an Oasis (my favorite!!). For Christmas last year I bought a Kobo Libra Color. I thought I would explore outside of the Amazon Eco-system. Big mistake for me!! Nothing beats the Kindle!! I love the feel, the fonts and the Kindle store! It is all so user friendly. I was apprehensive to buy the Paperwhite model because, if you look at the kindles I have owned, they all have had page turn buttons. That is why I was drawn to the Kobo. However, during Prime Days I decided to spring for a Paperwhite Signature Edition. The moment I powered it up I felt like I had come home. I can tap, swipe, or even tap the back (even with a cover) or the side of the Paperwhite to turn the page. Page turns are lightening fast compared to my older Kindles. It is light to hold, the text is crisp and the adaptive lighting is responsive. I've heard complaints about the on/off switch on the bottom but that has not been an issue for me. I am so happy with this Kindle and I don't forsee me ever leaving the kindle family again. One Month Update: I am so bonded with this kindle!!! I really did not believe I would attach to another Kindle after my Oasis, but this beauty has changed my mind! It has restored my love for reading (The Kobo's fonts and multiple page skips were a disappointment). I've never owned an ereader with such fast page turns. I thought that momentary little quivering of letters was normal for ereaders until this Paperwhite. I bought the Kobo Libra Color thinking I would leave Amazon because they discontinued all ereaders with page turn buttons. Surprisingly, that has not been an issue at all. I look forward to picking up my Kindle Paperwhite to read. It is perfect! ... show more
