I have had the Kindle Keyboard, the first Kindle Paperwhite, and probably all other Kindle Paperwhites, and I can definitely say that this is the best one yet and the one I am happiest with. Amazon didn't post the full pictures of the case so I have included those because I think a lot of people will be interested in seeing what they look like. The cover seems to be some sort of dystopian nightmare cityscape boat ride with a fuschia felt interior. I am not a fan of fuschia and pink but this will do I guess because I like the front cover. This new version is so much quicker and speedier than the previous versions. Quicker when scrolling, quicker when searching, quicker when typing. I love it and can't go back to the previous version and I will be keeping this one. It does feel a little larger than the previous generation Kindle Paperwhite Kids which I had with the green cover. (I did like the green cover better.) I don't think this new one needed to be larger. My old cover will not fit with this new Kindle Paperwhite Kids. Sadly, still no text-to-speech, of course. I think the Assistive Reader is unbearably clunky. The last thing you need to be aware of is that there are ads and no way to get rid of them, except you can turn the personalized ads off. I didn't have ads on my previous Kindle Paperwhite Kids. I find this annoying. Happy Reading!

As someone who was hoping to use the Kindle Paperwhite for reading and listening at the same time, I'm disappointed to find out that it doesn't offer this feature. For kids who are still learning to read, being able to follow along with both audio and text is critical for building strong reading skills. Unfortunately, the Paperwhite doesn't support syncing these two functions, which makes it inconsistent and frustrating for learners. This limitation defeats the purpose of having a Kindle Paperwhite in the first place. One of the main selling points of this device is to enhance the reading experience, and for young readers or anyone trying to improve their skills, the inability to combine reading and listening feels like a missed opportunity. If you're looking for a tool to help with immersive learning, this might not be the right device.

Purchased for my 6 year old reader to utilize whispersync which promotes being able to read text while audible reads the story out loud. You can not do both at the same time. In order to do both you need a fire tablet; however I was looking for a device that only supports reading where other apps are not possible. very disappointed. Will return this.

So, my daughter managed to destroy the charging port on my old Paperwhite 2. I went to look for a replacement and Amazon was out of stock of all Kindles. The next day they released this and we bought it. She loves it so much! With USB C the port should be resistant to upside down rage plugging, if not Amazon covers it with a 2 year replacement warranty.

My son does more reading with this device in the first week of having it than in a month. The free kids plus is a solid service. The people complaining about ads are probably using it as an adult to save a few $$. When in kids mode there are no ads. Which is what it’s primarily for. If you exit the kids profile you will get ads on the adult account.

This is the second time writing this review since the first was deleted. The unit I received had the same yellow discoloration on the bottom of the screen as what the Colorsofts are having issues with. It was too distracing for my son. Had to return.

Wow Im in shock… I’ve had the last generation and now got my hands on this one. The biggest and first thing I noticed is the how quick it is to flip pages or navigate through the menus… Super easy to use! I am extremely happy with my purchase. Also the second you get out of the kids account there are ads so be aware!
