Tried many different latches for our fence gate. Our gate is heavy and through time and weather, it slowly sags-therefore the locks eventually fail to work through the changing seasons. This gate lock solved the problem totally!! As the seasons change, the slider part may not drop all the way down due to wood swelling- BUT IT ALWAYS LATCHES ENOUGH TO LOCK. First the good: This latch works EXACTLY as shown. The bad is that it works EXACTLY as shown. For my application, I thought the slide on the latch bar would be helpful to keep it out of the way when not in use. It does do that but it is also a bit of a pain to have to make sure it is fully extended before latching the gate. I should probably have given the product 5 stars and myself 3 stars for not expecting this issue.
