  • Definitely Lovin this Laptop!
Can't really say enough words of how much I appreciate this gaming laptop. my 1st ever gaming laptop. Does everything I want; Performance, and the 4K graphics.... WOW, just WOW. I am running Starcraft 2 on Ultra Settings easily on this laptop and all of my games on max settings and it runs it pretty smooth! you can also customize the LED lights around your alienware device. If you have a specific color scheme in mind! or the Rainbow lol you can do it all! I personally chose red :P the only thing I noticed is that this laptop gets really hot after playing for prolonged periods of time. I mean, if I'm running everything on max settings I can see why it would heat up that much lol. but I easily countered this issue with some after marker Coolers that I would list here as well for your reference; HAVIT® HV-F2056 15.6"-17" Laptop Cooler Cooling Pad - Ultra Slim Portable USB Powered (3 Fans) and 2 of the Opolar LC01 Laptop Cooler Cooling Pad with Vacuum Fan (Rapid Cooling, USB Powered, Wind Control, Quiet Operation). Keep in mind that the portable coolers that I have from Opolar does not securely attach to laptops, your laptop only pins it down in position, if you're always on the go and want something that clamps down on your laptop try this; Opolar LC05 Laptop Cooler with Vacuum Fan get these set up going and it will definitely increase and stabilize your frame rate for long hours of gaming. Overall, I would give this product 5 stars.. I know its a bit pricey in comparison to other laptops but heck I wanted this more for the style (ALIENWARE) lol! and besides, the performance did not disappoint me in any way, in fact I am really pleased with this purchase and will gladly recommend this to anybody looking for a gaming laptop :P ... show more

  • 1 week in... I really want to like this computer, but it's been unreliable thus far.
I'll post an updated review eventually. A little background: I know what I'm doing. There are some other comments on here of people who clearly do not know what they are doing. I am not among those. That being said, I really WANT to like this computer - and it isn't far off. Pros: Incredibly fast GPU, CPU, RAM, I haven't had any issues with those. Lit keyboard and touchpad very attractive... when functioning correctly. Color changing interface easy to use... again, when functioning correctly. Non-glossy screen looks very nice, accurate colors, low glare. Battery lasts much longer than expected. (~5 hours) Cons: Killer 1525 wifi has proven to be VERY unstable. Sometimes I get good speeds, sometimes not so much, sometimes I can't get internet with it at all. I downloaded new drivers to no avail - I just deleted the entire Killer software suite and drivers and reinstalled the entire thing. It APPEARS to be working. We'll see if that lasts. I had Intel wifi hardware on my last laptop and NEVER had these issues. Keyboard lights don't always work. The macro buttons on the left side of my keyboard sometimes decide to randomly change to a color which doesn't match my scheme... When I try to change them back, they insist they already are the color I'm trying to change them to (blue) when they are instead orange. I had to take off the back paneling and reattach the hard drive... upon boot, my computer was telling me "No bootable devices found." Upon diagnostics, it found no hard drive installed. I'm not sure if it was just loose or what, regardless, on a laptop that is less than a week old, that is not a good sign. I'll update this in a few weeks with whether the issue has continued or not. I didn't even think to look - I hadn't ever owned a laptop without an optical drive before other than my school-issued macbook air... so I didn't know that was a "thing," but this laptop does not have an optical (CD/DVD) drive. It certainly has the space to have one... but it does not. Summary: It's a very attractive computer with very good hardware. All USB ports are 3.0, the Nvidia 965 is very fast, and there is always the option of adding the alienware graphics booster. The keyboard lights are a nice touch... when they work correctly. The Killer wifi software shows promise - but I need it to be more reliable. I'll update this as to whether my latest fix continues working or not. The hard drive is working... for now. My intitial impression after 6 days is that this computer was not put together well... the materials feel nice, but a loosely attached hard drive and bad wifi drivers is not a good start. For now, I'll give it 3 stars. It's a good computer overall, but it hasn't been working nearly as smoothly as the HP laptops I have owned in the past. I'll update this in a few weeks as to whether it smooths out or not. ... show more

  • WARNING. DENIED WARRANTY
Dell/Alienware refused my warranty service after my laptop broke because it's garbage quality. Called many times and got the run around. Tech came and brought wrong parts. Afterwards never replied and my service was listed as COMPLETED even though NOTHING was done. Tech sent was incompetent and needed my assistance to open the system. How pathetic is that ? Person sent look like some random wal-mart shelf stocker. Absolutely no idea what she was doing... **CAUTION** YOU WILL HAVE MAJOR HEADACHE calling in for warranty service. Just google your own research. I am not the only one who has terrible quality and refused warranty service. ... show more

  • In 2015? maybe it was worth your money. Today? Not even close.
You can get way more bang for your buck. I don't understand how anyone could sell this old a product for this high a price.
