  • Its all true, the good and the bad
I think another reviewer said it another way, but in my opinion, this is either the best pinball toy ever made, or one of the worst commercial pinball machines of the last 30 years. Take your pick. I am old enough to recall the Bally "home edition" pinballs of the late 1970's, which had a single LED score readout and made much more cheaply than their commercial counterparts. They sold for about $650 then, which is over $3000 in today's dollars. I also tried a Zizzle pinball back in 2006. It was about $300 then which is about $500 today. I would say that this Alice pinball is easily 5x better than the Zizzle, and approaching the Bally home machine (as I recall it), while a modern Stern machine is 5x better than this Alice machine. So expect something much better than a Zizzle, about the same as a Bally home machine, and nowhere near as good as a Stern. With that out of the way, there are some things you should know. First, I think everything I saw on youtube turned out to be true with my machine: - Slight flex the playfield (mine really isn't bad enough the worry about). - Queen side ramp was loose and had to be refitted. I just redid the screw I had access to and that was enough. - Multi-ball release did not work when there is 1 ball locked at game end, and I had to reseat it. Now it is fine. - Caterpillar ramp is proud of the playfield and seems like a pain to remove, so I probably will not fix it. - Queen side ramp regularly fails to detect a ball up the ramp (I have not fixed this yet, but most likely will) I suggest you do some youtube research on these issues before making a purchase decision. The fulfillment company did a great job and the pinball arrived in perfect condition. The packing is amazing. I think as much engineering went into the design of the packing as the game. For me it took the best of 3 hours to to unpack and assemble. I had only two minor issues. 1. One "b" wood screw could not be used because the predrilled hole was too large (fitting one of the black plastic plexiglass braces to the bottom of the back box). 2. The very last piece (a small cover panel for the back) was too wide to fit and I had to sand it down. The most painful part of the install was the plunger because it used very long screws and there isn't enough clearance for the tiny allen wrench required. The cabinet is pressboard and is shockingly heavy. I think a plywood cabinet might have been lighter. Still, I had no problems moving it around during assembly. Once the playfield is in however, I think it is well over 100 pounds. I seem to recall seeing is was 125 somewhere, but I don't recall where. I think the game looks fantastic and is the perfect size for the home. As for gameplay, I personally think its fun. Its basically a standard "wizard mode" scheme, only without the wizard mode. Instead is plays a different animation at the completion of each round. Not having the actual wizard mode is probably not a big deal as you won't be reaching it most games anyway. Again, keep the list of common flaws in mind, don't expect the modern Stern experience, and I don't think you will be disappointed. I personally view this machine as the absolute champion of toy pinballs. ... show more

  • Assembly Nightmare
This was a royal pain in the butt to assemble! I hired my handyman to assist me and it still took us 5 hours to assemble. Thankfully, all the parts were included, but no assembly instructions. We had to watch the video to assemble it. The video was very helpful, but time consuming. Once we finished the assembly, I can honestly say it looks great in my 50’s diner I built in a room in our house. The size is perfect and the game is really fun to play. Once we got through the assembly and software setup on the machine, I played about 10 games and it really is authentic and is just as good as a full size machine. In closing, the end result after assembly is both satisfying and worth the cost, even though it was quite pricey! ... show more

  • Machine has a known bug. After THREE MONTHS still no fix. Do not buy!
This thing is obviously cool. It would easily be 5 stars except for 1 fatal flaw It has a multiball feature. The balls are "locked" behind a gate until the multiball feature is triggered. BUT, if your game ends before you get the multiball feature, the balls stay there. The game drops the gate in an attempt to let the balls out but there's a hardware issue to where the gate doesnt drop down far enough so the balls remain stuck. This isn't a "once in a while" thing. It happens 100% of the time To get the locked ball/s out, you need to slide the cover back and remove them by hand. This thing is an $1100 toy. It's supposed to be fun. Having to constantly slide the cover back is not fun *Downgrading from 3 stars to 2 due to a complete lack of customer service on the aforementioned problem that they've been completely aware of since before I bought my machine as per their response to my inquiry. Zero communication in over a month. I'll give it another month and then this thing becomes a 1 star item* *It's June 18th now. Machine was bought in the early part of April. There is STILL no word on a fix. Customer Service isn't bad, it's completely nonexistent. I'm downgrading to 1 star due to having this glaring problem that they've been aware of for THREE MONTHS+ and have done exactly nothing about* These guys are marketing a new pinball machine now. I'd be leary of that too at this point ... show more

  • Great machine for the price
For $1100, you can’t beat the price for this pinball machine. It’s cheaper than the digital ones that are no good and plays pretty well for what it is compared to the Stern machines. If you want a simple at home pinball machine, this is the way to go. We’ve played it at least a couple hundred times at this point and havnt had any issues with it. You may have to adjust the flipper/bumper power settings to get the ball up the ramps easier but it is easy to change. Overall, a great smaller home pinball machine for the price especially if you don’t want to spend $7000 plus on a full size. ... show more

  • Very impressive for $1100!
This isn't like most home pinballs this isn't an lcd screen this is a REAL pinball with actual pinballs, flingers, pop bumpers, targets, and mechanical flippers. It has a color DMD with lots of animation, voice, and sounds to enhance the game. Also, like many much more expensive pinballs this has sub-games that have timers, special music and voice acting. There are cute toys that go on the playfield as well and beautiful art on the sides, playfield, and even the apron and inside the playfield box. WoW! ... show more

  • Alice blast.
This is a great home pinball machine. There’s some things that need to be worked on, the drop ball mechanism needs to be fixed. The Wi-Fi connection is great. They need better instructions to assemble the machine. A schematic book would be great. It takes a while. If you’re mechanically inclined or like to put together puzzles or models, you can do it ,all in all. It’s a blast. Lots of fun. ... show more

  • Pretty good for the money
It's pretty cool. Not bad for the money. I saw a comment about the "Ball Gate" up top. It does have a flaw but it is easily fixed. The gate will drop if you get three balls stacked up and I suppose it works okay then because ball two and three have a little momentum. But if there's only one ball sitting there when the game ends it gets hung up on the gate. The gate doesn't drop below the playing surface. Easy fix! Open up the machine. lean it all the way up. Locate the little bracket that holds the gate. Loosen the two screws. I used part of a Popsicle stick to shim the bracket. Slide it underneath and tighten the screws and you're all set. ... show more

  • Sprint away from this product.
Received this electrical product with no way to plug it into an electrical outlet!!!! This "pinball" machine will never work as delivered. Seriously!! At the least, I expected there would be a way to "plug" it in!! But wrong again! There is none provided. So Amazon is selling an electrical stand alone product, with absolutely no method of providing electricity to it. DUH? Is that a design problem, fraud, or what? One star is too high a review for this product!! This "pinball machine" is worthless if it cannot be plugged into an electrical outlet. And the one I received CANNOT be plugged into anything as received as there are no plugs, or plug wires coming out of the "pinball machine" provided. So it's worthless to me, and everyone else who expects to actually use it as received!! One star is OVERRATED for this door stop! ... show more
