These were smaller than I thought they would be but they look good. Folks compliment and notice these on my Hobie Passport. Clean your surface with rubbing alcohol before you try to install these. After installing the edges kept lifting at the eyebrows and tips of mouth. If you're having a problem, I used a heat gut to warm the surface and active the adhesive while pressing and rubbing these decal areas down along with the entire perimeter. Don't overheat. (The stickiness on these decals are microscopic little sacks filled with adhesive. These sacks need to burst using pressure in order to adhere properly. Adding heat will make it easier to release the adhesive from their sacks) ... show more

    • Major Design Flaw
This is an update and I am revising my rating to one star, only because Amazon does not allow zero stars. I thought the issues I pointed out in my original review were the only problems I would have but, even though I thoroughly cleaned the surface with fine steel wool and wiped it down with alcohol, after three days, without even making it to the water, this thing is already starting to bubble and peel. The adhesive being used was probably designed for glass or painted metal but, definitely not plastic. I have a Perception Sport Conduit kayak and it has a very smooth surface so, there is no reason for this to happen other than the wrong adhesive being used. In fact, I'm will to bet that the majority of people that gave this thing four or five stars, used additional adhesive. I wish the folks that had success with this approach would mention what adhesive they used, there are hundreds of them! Previous 3 star review: I gave this product three stars because it does look pretty cool but, there is what I consider to be a major design flaw in the product. Specifically, this thing comes in two pieces instead of one contiguous piece with backing that comes off in two pieces allowing you to apply one side, remove the other side backing and apply the other side, resulting in one seamless decal. Instead, this thing results in a seam along the curved leading edge of the kayak and, it is at this seam that I will bet is where this thing has come apart for all you folks that have reported adhesion problems. In my case the tensile strength of the decal is such that it will not adhere completely to the leading edge of the kayak leaving a little bit of the leading edge coming undone and, it is at this point that this thing is going to start coming off as the kayak knifes through the water. I can already see it. If you manufacturers read any of these reviews, here's a suggestion for a possible relatively easy fix for this: Provide a piece of decal material in either red or black, about 1/2 X 6 inches to provide a cover strip for the leading edge seam, this may prevent water and other encountered material from pulling at the exposed edge. ... show more

The price was outstanding, and it's still attached to my kayak! However, it wrinkled and the edges have been coming unstuck after the first week of being on there. I used cleaning alcohol to prep the boat and allowed it 3 days before use, but the edges of the mouth part continually come up a bit. I ordered another set and next season I'll replace it with the new one and probably put some clear tape over it to protect it better. Looks awesome, and reflects light wonderfully. I even love how it looks when on my car! Cool product for the price, and still looks good from afar even with the edges coming up . ... show more

I thought these would look silly on my little green canoe, but instead it now looks like a P51 Mustang when it’s ripping through the current. I think it scares the fish away, but we don’t mind. #1 rule to remember; they really mean it when they say to wait 48 hours til putting in the water. Nobody likes a peeling decal. ... show more
