  • So Far, So Good
My phone was delivered two days ago as promised. I was thrown a bit off guard because it was labeled “Consumer Cellular.” Took it to my local T Mobile store where they simply switched out the SIM card from our old 3G phone. Our credits transferred automatically. What I ordered was labeled “used, like new” and that was certainly the case. It must have been originally made for Consumer Cellular and became surplus for some reason. It was obviously UNUSED. Wife very happy because flip phone design prevents inadvertent call dialing when in her purse. Since she only makes about sixty minutes of calls a month, her cell phone service only costs us about six dollars monthly. She has difficulty with TV remotes so no way does she want a smart phone. ... show more

  • Doesn't measure up
I use the T-Mobile network and this is the flip phone they recommended to replace my LG B-450 when the 3G network was discontinued. In just about every category the LG was the far better phone - the Go Flip won't connect via Bluetooth to either my laptop or my car hands-free system (it even says in the manual it may not connect to every device). Compared to the LG, the Go Flip is much more cumbersome making calls and texts, roughly akin to the difference between a Mac and a PC, more hoops to jump through. When listening to music on this phone it just shuts off for no reason. And you have to load music backwards so tracks will play in order. External speaker is very weak, and everyone can barely hear me even if I hold phone an inch from my mouth. Also found out that incoming calls don't log the number. Very poorly designed and unpleasant to use product. Update: Now this phone has taken to shutting off randomly when not even in use. Hope to get a different phone soon, this one is useless. Waste of money. ... show more

  • Fine for calls
We got this phone for my daughter a year ago and it has worked fine. It's not hard to send a text but typing it out is arduous. Making and answering phone calls is fine. It's a good phone if you don't need to send a lot of long complicated texts, and if you just need to make occasional calls. Don't expect anything from the other features. ... show more

  • Good As a starter phone for children
This phone's responses to commands are often slow. At times it disconnects callers when the answer button is pressed to receive calls. The predictive feature for texting doesn't function well. The receiver is suitably clear. It doesn't transmit and receive well in the Union Wireless system even though it is a GSM phone. The phone easily drops tower signal and struggles to reconnect with signal. Would perhaps work well as a starter phone to keep track of children. ... show more

  • Works fine but . . .
Here's the problem. It says it's an unlocked 4G phone. It's working fine with my T-Mobile account . . . but it's an AT&T "branded" (logo) phone and wants me to set something up that apparently is an AT&T customers' thing.

  • Difficult setting up service; unremovable AT & T app; need to activate from different device.
"Not as described," indicates "unlocked," However, it is not disclosed in the description that the AT & T app is on the phone, with only an ATT sim card already inserted. I immediately removed the sim card, however, there is no option to remove the AT & T app from the phone. Moreover, no option to add an another cell phone service app. Yes, unlocked, but it was extremely difficult to use the service company of my choice. Took me 5 hours to figure out to get the cell phone to work. Step 1: I can't use the alcatel phone to activate service, that I had to use another device to activate the sim card of my choice. Step 2: Then insert the sim card in the Alcatel cell phone. Finally after 5 hours I have a working phone. ... show more

  • not a good phone for seniors
This phone was promoted as being a particularly good phone for seniors which presumes the volume was louder than most. It is not. It is just average or worse. Additionally the "ring" signal is so quiet that I hardly ever hear it unless I am looking for it. Also, I have been surprised to find that I did not have a good signal in certain commercial establishments that I did have with my older LG 3G phone. I don't know if that is true for all the new 4G flip phones but I have experienced a number of such phones now and none are satisfactory. It would appear that the industry is simply not interested in servicing that market which is made up of older people who just want a simple inexpensive phone for emergencies that works as well as most of the old 3G phones did which means with sufficient volume. For instance as good as a land line. Why is that so difficult. That is the case with some smart phones. And yes, they are more expensive. So just make a simple phone for satisfactory audio communication and forget about all the other nonsense. That's what seniors want. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. I've already returned an Orbic and the Verizon Nokia is worthless. The search continues. ... show more
