    • False Advertising! This is NOT the Product You Will Receive!
I ordered the Akiles Coilmac-M41 as pictured and described on the Amazon Website @ $387.46. What I received was exactly that, a machine without the extra keys on the front for customizing the punch holes. The model I received had only five keys on the front... And that is what a M41 should have. What is pictured and described on the Amazon site is an M41 (Plus). Was this deceptive and fraudulent? I don't know. The machine works for the purpose that I expected. I was quickly able to spiral bind ordinary 8.5x11 pages. The M41 (Plus) is more expensive, though not a lot more. The (Plus) model also punches oval holes that make inserting the coils easier. I got round-hole punches. Also, the machine works well enough but is loud, making complaining noises as it punches and reverses. You will have to exert force to get it to retract even with fewer than 10 sheets of paper. Final Report: It works mostly as expected. The model I thought I purchased would have cost more and did not have free Prime Shipping. I called the Aikles support line and left a message. Have not heard back from them yet... ... show more

    • Heavy duty mechanism but takes a strong arm
After going through two Trubind machines which are great for light usage but don't hold up, I decided to try the Coilmatic M41. This is a much stronger machine and feels like it will last for years. The only drawback is the strength required to punch 15 to twenty sheets at a time. I wish it had a lower gear ratio or an even longer handle. It is great for 10 or so sheets per punch but after several hundred punches of close to 20 sheets at a time my right arm was aching. I found spraying some silicone on the edge of some chipboard and punching it occasionally helped quite a bit. If it was easy enough for a female office worker to use I would give it 5 stars. Perhaps it it the larger oval punched holes that make it harder to punch than the Trubind. It is easier to insert coils than the round hole punches though. ... show more

    • I ordered the high priced unit that advertised oblong punch holes
The machine I received was the less costly model that only punches smaller round wholes . . . It works fine, but I still remain disappointed because I paid for a higher priced unit.

    • A Great "Must Have" Tool
We purchased the Akiles Coilmac purely on reviews of other Amazon customers. We were not disappointed. The oval holes are great, letting coils insert at the speed of light. Being able to disengage any pins you want is a great feature. It functions smoothly, has lots of handy adjustments, and is a great "must have" tool. Fantastic! Super well made. Heavy duty. Easy to use. Adjustable and flexible for different jobs. I wrote a book and save a ton of money binding it myself. I print out the b&w pages on my laser printer and get color copies at: [...] Great prices. (I have no affiliation with them. Just wanted to pass on the tip.) This binder will last a lifetime. I was debating whether or not to purchase this model (note the slightly oval holes) or the one with the round holes. After binding some fairly large texts (300 pp+) I'm so glad we chose this model over the other-- there is minimal tearing and wanting to pull loose from the coils. Unlike some of the other machines I've used, this one is truly "heavy duty," and you'll know it as soon as you pull down on the over-sized handle. If you need one, buy this one. ... show more
