  • Great quality double layered honey strainer.
The honey strainer arrived today, and I am quite impressed with the quality!! It is a nice large size, and being a double strainer will obviously remove more debris from our honey than the single strainer we had been borrowing from a family member. This double straining setup is stainless steel and should last us quite a while for straining our honey! There are no crevices on any of these pieces that will present a difficulty for cleaning! I’m excited to have this double strainer, and can’t wait to use it. (The two strainers can be used separately, as well. I’m sure my husband and I will come up with plenty of other uses for these strainers! They arrived quickly, but the box they were in was very thin cardboard, and there were small holes in the box where some of the frame had been sitting against the box, and moving it around/shipping rubbed some small holes into the box at those contact points. It did not affect the strainers or frames in any way. ... show more

  • Nice stand for hanging or tray sitting, screens great but too large for US 5 gallon buckets.
It screens great, the screen is strong, I watched my helper use a pan lid to squeeze the grape musk into the screen. It has a frame for sink hanging and a frame to set it in the big food grade trays. There is a US versus metric problem. In the US my food grade 5 gallon buckets have a 11 inch interior diameter. This screen is the metric food grade bucket size 30 cm. Size C is too big for a US bucket. It turns out there is no US standard for buckets. A 5 gallon bucket can be 15 to 12 inches high and 10 to 12 inches in diameter according to who manufactured it. If you want to make sure it fits get Option B. The 10 inch Screen. There are ten frames of honey to spin and screen because I have not lab cleaned the food grade buckets and the frame spinner. Today I find the screen being used to remove skins and seeds from the raw grape juice. Since I see tiny grape strings on the second screen. The top screen will remove the bee bits and wax, then the bottom screen will pull out some of pollen. ... show more

  • Ok for a backup, I prefer a low profile design
I'm really not sure why this thing is so much deeper than a standard low profile double strainer. I also don't think the final strainer is as fine my other ones. It will serve fine as a backup but I definitely prefer the standard low profile design.

  • Exactly what I was hoping for
I'm not sure what to say about this strainer. It is as described and on par with honey strainers that I have used in the past. I would recommend.

  • Great for straining over a pot or a bucket.
I got this double layer screen strainer for getting large chunks of wax, etc. out of my honey. It works well and comes apart easily for cleaning. You can put it over a pot or a 5 gallon bucket. The screens are sturdy and made well. The first one is a larger mesh than the bottom one, which is very fine. I then follow with a cheesecloth. ... show more

  • Option C - Just a tad big for the 5-gallon bucket
This is nice quality and would work really well, except it is just a tad big for my 5 gallon food grade bucket. I chose option C - so if you are planning to use with a bucket, get option b maybe.

  • Good size and looks well made
Color: B
The strainer comes with two different inserts. They both look sturdy and sincerely help the filtration process when using any kind of extractor. The slowest portion of our extraction process in the past was the filtration into the food grade buckets. It would create a backlog until we started using these kinds of strainers. Perfect for the honey to slip through but definitely catches any of the residual wax that you definitely don’t want in your honey collection post centrifugal separation from the frame. They seem to hold up just fine and are a good fit for any kind of 5 gallon food bucket. One of the inserts has the extension on it for better stability when placed on top. So far no complaints! ... show more

  • Decent Construction, Different Mesh Thickness, But Too Big!
When we process our raw honey, we do so in a way that doesn't require heating. We simply strain out larger pieces of wax and bee parts while letting the pollen go through into the final product. In the past, we've accomplished this by using kitchen strainer bowls and then nylon paint strainers, which gets messy because the bowls are never quite wide or flat enough to fit the 5-gallon buckets we use, and the nylon strainers gum up after a while with wax and have to be replaced, taking honey with them. I was so excited to find these because they seemed to fit everything I was looking for. They're metal, have adjustable arms, and have two different mesh thicknesses to do a first- and second-stage strain. In the description, at 11.81", they would have been just the right size, too. But the problem is that they're too big! They are definitely larger than 11.81 inches, as you can see in my picture. Had they been that size, they would have slid perfectly into the tops of the five-gallon buckets. As it is, they just kind of balance awkwardly on top and over the edges. This product was so close to meeting our needs, but it's just too big. ... show more
