  • Nicely upgraded action camera!
Color: Black
Akaso really listened to their customers when designing the Brave 6- they addressed what were mostly minor flaws in a great little camera, which I will run thru later, to bring their product to the next level. The new Brave 6, as did the Brave 4, takes stunning video in all modes, the 4k really shines tho I use it (as well as I did the Brave 4) mainly on the lower settings as the majority of the tv's and monitors I use regularly are not 4K so I prefer to save space on the microSD cards by allowing it to create smaller files for the same length of video. It makes a great dash/motorcycle camera, which is my main use, especially with its 'Driving Mode where turns itself on and off when plugged into a key switched power source and records all day using the USB input for power without needing to swap batteries every 45 minutes to an hour. You can set it for loop recording or to shut off when the card is full, I usually set mine to loop with it filling the 64gb card after about 8 hours of recording time on its medium setting. With its image stabilization it takes very smooth video even in the rough and bouncing cab of the Frieghtliner Cascadia I drive for a living, making the ride over the rough bridges and tunnels around Hampton, Va appear calm and boring. The included remote control works well and is handing when recording situations where you want to set the camera in a spot that doesn't allow fast access- such as recording video (or taking pictures) with the camera shooting from above or from down low. Set your camera(s) for your shot, then start and stop recording without having to leave the area you are recording for retakes or breaks- I use this feature in my shop for recording projects and set the cameras in different locations around my work area. The new voice control feature works, but isn't really useful for me due to background noises when working. Some reviewers have mentioned issues with the new app for the Akaso line- I haven't used it as the Brave 6 will function fine with the older CamKing App the Brave 4 uses and I don't need or want two seperate apps on my phone to do the same thing. maybe one day i will try the newer one myself and use which ever works best. The Brave 6 (shown in between my GoPro Hero 2014 and my older Akaso Brave 4) has a much more solid feel to it than the Brave 4 does. Gone is the LED screen on the front, replaced with a simpler ring light to show you when the camera is running. While I never felt the LED screen was needed and don't miss it, I would like the ability to turn off the ring light so that it doesn't give away the camera when filming with multiple cameras (it may turn off, if so I haven't found the option yet). The Brave 4, while it has held up great, always felt slightly "cheap" and its MicroSD slot was difficult to remove the card from and was exposed to dirt and dust along with the USB and HDMI ports. With the Brave 6 they added a rubber sealing plug to cover the USB and HDMI ports and moved the card slot to behind the battery door, the hinged battery door itself being one of the major improvements on the Brave 6. It uses the same batteries as the Brave 4 did, so if you already have the older model you can share your extra batteries between the cameras (important to me). Overall I still feel that the Akaso action cameras are some of the best bang for your buck and will continue to use them, taking video that is truly impressive for an under $100 camera. Is it a GoPro Hero 7? No, but I can buy 3 to 5 of these for the same price! ... show more

  • AKASO Brave 6 - great quality camera for a beautiful price
Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. The first thing I noticed when I received this camera was that the battery door was hinged which covered both the battery and the microSD card. I currently have the AKASO EK7000 Pro and one thing I didn't care for was how tough it was to open the battery door and how difficult it was to remove my microSD card from it's slot on the side. Especially considering I'm a person who keeps their fingernails short, I always has to use another flat object to assist me in removing those items. So having a hinged door and an eject-able microSD card was definitely something major for me. The quick reference guide suggests the download of AKASO DV (available in the Apple Store and the Google Play store). This app is a lot more user-friendly than the previous app iSmart DV. It was very easier to navigate the app and find my camera using WiFi. I liked being able to download my recordings/photos directly to my phone's gallery, as well. The previous app was a bit of a hit or miss for me, so I was pleased with that upgrade as well. While navigating the app was easier, I found navigating through the menu option directly from the camera to be a bit more difficult. The AKASO EK7000 Pro is a touchscreen action camera and being that it was my first ever action camera, not having touchscreen with the AKASO Brave 6 was definitely new for me and I realized I had been spoiled previously. Continuously pushing the same button over and over to get to the menu option I wanted was tedious and annoying if I missed the option my first run through and had to cycle through the options again. However, the AKASO Brave 6 does have voice-control. A cool option for those who prefer to speak, but I'm a pretty quiet person and it couldn't always understand me. When it did, it was nice to be heard. The quality of the videos and of the photos I captured with the AKASO Brave 6 were much better than the ones I took with the AKASO EK7000 Pro. I bought these cameras for a trip to the Caribbean me and my spouse will be taking in the spring and I figured with the prices of these cameras, we couldn't go wrong by recording our own experiences with our own cameras when snorkeling or hiking. I took the cameras to the pool and tried them out underwater and the results were amazing. I've recommended AKASO to my friends and family members, because I've genuinely haven't had any issues with the brand. The AKASO Brave 6 is an awesome camera and from the other reviews I read, it's an improvement from it's previous model, but as I've only ever had the AKASO EK7000 Pro, it's what I compared it to. The video I attached is trying the AKASO Brave 6 at the pool I mentioned earlier. I can't wait to try it in the Caribbean Sea! ... show more

  • Great Action Cam for the Money
Color: Black
I bought this to use while mountain biking. I didn’t want to get a GoPro as I was concerned I wouldn’t use it as much as would like to in order to constitute the higher price. Nothing wrong about the GoPro. The reviews and price for this unit looked promising. When I received it, I was amazed at how well it was packed. Packaging was impressive and well wrapped. The camera came with a bunch of attachments, two rechargeable batteries, and Bluetooth shutter and record buttons to say the least. The buttons on the cam are little finicky, but they’re not bad. User interface is simple. The one thing I wasn’t too keen about was the fact that an instruction manual was not included with the cam. Instead you have to go to their website to bring up the manual. The app you download on your smart device is okay, not the best. I have a iPhone XR for what it’s worth. It took about 30 minutes to figure out how to connect it with my phone, thinking it was suppose to be connected via Bluetooth, but it’s actually connected through WiFi, which is a little weird to me, but it is what is. I tested the cam under water by placing it in my sink filled with water. Recorded clearly and zero leaks. I also used it on my recent biking adventure and was impressed. Camera stabilization was very decent. I used the 2K setting and it appeared pretty clear, but there’s room for improvement. I still plan to tweak the settings a bit to see what it can do, but so far I’m impressed. If you’re looking for a great action cam on a budget, this is your camera. Oh, and don’t forget to a mini SD card for it. (Hint: use what’s recommended. Period) ... show more
