This is a massive upgrade from previous generations, the keys feel nice and the midi out on the back is great. It has great functionality on the arp options and the scenes setup is easy - the only issue that I do have to say is that it definitely needs a manual read when you get it as some of the button combinations are kind of counterintuitive and until I looked them up were a little difficult to figure out. Normally a shift function would bring you to the secondary function but for example, knob secondary functionality is all related to the arp button so rather than holding a shift to get to the function you hold arp and shift function works with some of the buttons and pads but not others. It takes some getting used to but once I figured it all out it all seems to be there and hands on without an editor. ... show more

love these mini keyboards. They come with enough built in sounds (piano, etc) and an entry level sequencer to record simple melodies. This newer keyboard came with ableton lite, but i only seen the set up for previous MPK Mini Mk 3 keyboard. I used that set up and it basically worked fine as i dont use anything too fancy at the moment so most things were mapped. They do have an extensive library to purchase if yoou're already musically inclined. So far having fun just playing with the sounds. ... show more

Nice upgrade from the 3. The keys feel solid and responsive, no doubt due to the slightly larger size. The USB-C conn is an added bonus because I can also connect my phone to use the synth apps I have installed. A lot lighter than expected. Functionality is practical with a lot of features for an on the go keyboard. Not the biggest fan of how the keys feel to play but the reality is for me this was meant for travel purposes so I’ve found a compromise.
