The Aircast AirSport Ankle Support Brace is specifically designed for the chronic sufferer of ankle sprains. It provides moderate support and compression utilizing air cell technology, and incorporates a semi-rigid encased shell which delivers stability and comfort. Additional compression and stabilization is provided by an ATF (anterior talofibular) cross strap and integral forefoot and shin wraps. This combination of compression and stabilization, coupled with the easy application makes this ankle support brace ideal for active individuals or athletes recovering from Grade I or II ankle sprains, or those who are looking to prevent ankle sprains. Bought this after i broke my ankle and I was no longer in the boot. I was looking for something that would give me good ankle support throughout the day but was also easy to take on and off. This brace was just perfect and gave me the support i was looking for. It is also great quality and after using it for a long period of time Its still in great shape to use in the future should another injury arise. After suffering a pretty severe sprain, my doc gave me an aircast that reduced pain while walking. That one was so bulky that flip flops were about the only footwear that fit with it, and it felt like I was constantly fussing with the straps to get decent support for my ankle. I was looking for something that fit into my shoes better, but also something I could wear when I started to walk and then run again when ready. This aircast was definitely lighter, overall seemed to fit against my ankle better, and reduced pain more effectively. I'm definitely glad I switched to this over the other one. I was able to fit it into most shoes, though it did feel like it was stretching my running shoes out a bit and it was a little uncomfortably snug. The only issue was that if I wore it all day and did a fair amount of walking around, or took it for a walk that was at least a couple of miles, it started to chafe against the back of my calf and rub it raw. I had hoped it would be something I'd wear for longer distances/runs to prevent future ankle rolls, but it's been a little too uncomfortable for that. Awesome for post-sprain support though. I badly sprained my ankle and needed a good support system for recovery. My shoe size is 8.5 to 9 and I have skinny weak ankles--but it was hugely swollen. So I was on the fence between a small or medium. I ended up ordering the small and due to the swelling it was too tight & very uncomfortable. I then ordered the medium & it is so much more comfortable (but of course you can't return this) I think when the swelling goes down the small will be good for everyday wear. It also depends on what socks you might wear--a thicker sock would never have fit in the small. It seems like a well made & supportive device. Odd strap set up though. The long main support strap wraps around--kind of figure 8 style. The fabric cover to keep the velcro from sticking to things is kind of weird but works OK. I'm still not getting around too much but think this will work well when I start getting back to normal activities. ... show more

I purchased this to support my ankle following an inversion sprain. Either mine is defective, or it is the WORST ankle brace I have ever encountered. The strap that starts beneath the foot literally cannot be pulled snugly around and across to line up as the manufacturer has designed. Pulling it even GENTLY snug results in the rest of the strap just running up the lateral ankle and lower leg. If I run the straps according to design, the piece coming from beneath the foot gaps tremendously where it leads up to and attaches to the nylon strap, and provides no support to the ankle. I attempted several other ways of placing the straps, and nothing worked. At this point I am in MORE pain from the half a dozen attempts, and am both upset and frustrated. I double checked the size chart on the manufacturer's DJO Global website. Since I wear a 9-9.5 women's, I ordered the Aircast Airsport Ankle Brace, Right foot, Medium. I made sure to order it directly from Amazon instead of cheaper via 3rd party. This box seemed to have the right sticker seals, but the brace had a bit of dry skin on it, and there were no instructions in the box. The tag inside the brace matches the manufacturer's part number for this brace and size. ... show more
