I had a fan but it started to wiggle so an electrician took it out of the ceiling and he left rhat hole and two cables hanging arround. I look for a ceiling lamp and i choose these by the price which was very affordable. I installed the lamo my self and here i am alive, very easy plug and play ports to connect power and also very safe. The base mount is very easy to screw however the taps to lock the base and the lamp are tricky. Very good product. ... show more

bought these for adding extra light to my partially finished basement which is used for laundry. while the light itself is pretty bright and works well since installed here are a few notes to consider. 1. the mounting instructions are pretty much non existent 2. the mounting bracket does not have holes which line up with a standard junction box, so you are left with needing to either drill holes into the bracket or mount it to the side of the box. 3. there are no lead wires included, i had to get a piece of 14/2 Romex and strip it to create these leads which plug into a very minimalist receptor 4. this is not grounded, even though its rated for damp installations, i wouldn't due to this factor will i by again - most likely not ( would have returned it if it was not for the hassle) if asked if i would recommend - i would say NO, ... show more

This is an attractive, inexpensive lighting fixture suitable for hallways, staircases, closets and similar areas. It provides lots of light for its 18 watts. Purchasers should be aware that this is an international product not designed for the U.S. market. It operates on AC voltages from 100 to 277. It is not UL listed (but does carry the CE marking indicating conformity to European Economic Area standards). The fixture snaps onto a metal bracket which is intended to be mounted directly to the ceiling or wall, not to an electrical box. The slots on the metal mounting bracket do not accommodate the standard 2-3/4” screw spacing found on common U.S. ceiling boxes. You can drill holes to enable box mounting. You’ll need to provide lengths of black and white stranded wire to provide pigtails for connecting the fixture to the supply wires in your box. (The fixture is all plastic and there is no provision or need for a grounding wire.) The directions are not clear on how to attach the pigtails to the fixture. You lift up the tabs on the connector, insert the pigtails (stripped of insulation) carefully into the receptacle, and then push the tabs back down. Then install the connector cover with the tiny screw provided. It’s a nifty product but I gave it 4 stars because it presents installation challenges to Americans. ... show more

I installed today and the only thing that tripped me up was in step 3 (I attached a picture of the instructions) I could not get my two wires (ground and live wire) to get clamped into the light fixture. It was not till my wife played around with it and realized that in Step 3 two tabs needed to be pulled up 90 degrees and not 30 degrees to allow the hole to be fully open. Then when fully open insert the live and ground wire (that were stripped) into the two tubes. Then close the two tabs by pushing them back down fully. Also I'm not handy at all so for 99% of people they would have figured this out instantly. I wish I took a picture but didn't. But the tabs come up at 30 degrees and when you stick the wires in there and close it down back to 0 degrees the wires are not clamped in good. You need to put a tiny bit of force and pull both tabs up 90 degrees and then stick the exposed wire in, then clamp it down by pushing the tab down to 0 degrees. Note: you do not need an extra ground wire. This just needs two wires, one hot (120 volt ac) which connects to their brown wire and one ground that connects to their blue wire. Normally in the USA the live or 120 volt wire is black. Also there is very tiny delay in the light turning on, about 1/4 of a second. But this is so short in duration that it does not matter. I would have given 4 & 1/2 stars if I could. But we are very pleased with it. ... show more

Horrendous. Very difficult to install. The bracket comes with screws that are not machined to screw into a standard bracket so you'll have to either find your own screws or drill new holes into sheetrock around the existing bracket if theres enough room (unit comes with 2 drywall anchors and 2 wood screws to do this). Once you've got the bracket on, you have to fish the wires into ports on the unit. These are unreliable as my live wire popped out of my first one after I tested the power. Once the wires are in, you have to go find a tiny hex screwdriver to screw on the plastic cover for the wires. Good luck with this. If you are doing this overhead, you will continually drop the tiny screw and lose it. I ended up taping the case on with electrical wire. Once the cover is on, you then click it into the bracket. However there is nowhere to tuck the wires completely, so it does not flush mount. One side of the light bulges away from the ceiling as the wires are stuck between the unit and the ceiling. Once that's all done, you can turn them on and will notice a brief (but noticeable) delay for the lights to come on (this is certainly an issue with these lights as my old lights did not do this).
